Of course I understand this is one of those "Saturn" style arguments. "Its better, developers just don't use its power" while in reality, potential doesn't matter.
I think this is something far easier for devs to take advantage of than the Saturn, particularly if the libraries to utilize GPU features are the same across platforms.

That said, far as I've seen, the PS4 and next XBox are both supposed to be using practically the same hardware, x86 CPU with something comparable/related to AMD's 7800 series in it, versus the Wii U using PowerPC and basically a 4650/70 derived GPU.

Even if not for wanting to see the GamePad utilized, being the odd man out like that really doesn't make me optimistic for future multiplatform games on the system. Exclusives should be able to stand out from 360 software more than they have so far though, definitely.

Ninty has used IBM PowerPC since the Gamecube days though. It didn't stop Dev from releasing multiplats on the Gamecube. Besides different architecture often means different games. I'm all for Nintendo getting multiplats, but I want Nintendo's console to remain unique from the competition, both in terms of controls and game offerings. That is not something that can be said for PS3/360. Remember back in the day when consoles and console libraries were actually unique? Besides isn't PowerPC CPUs actually superior to Intel CPUs, Intel just has better marketing. I seem to remember that PowerPC CPUs are not comparable to Intel CPUs megahertz for megahertz.

During the Gamecube's day, every console out there was a different architecture, but, more or less, and they were all in at least the same ballpark in terms of capability.

Last gen, every console was, at the core, PowerPC based. The control CPU in the Cell was still a PowerPC derivative, similar to the 360's CPU if I recall.

It's true, you can't directly compare different CPU architectures Mhz for Mhz. I wouldn't say that PowerPC is inherently better than x86 though. Was always situational, even back 10-15 years ago when it was actually a Mac vs PC debate

All I mean is there's a lot less incentive to know the Wii U hardware inside and out, than there will be for being able to make the hardware in the PS4 sing, since it'll be so similar to PC and (presumably) Durango as well.
'course on top of that it's set to be very far behind the competition in terms of power anyway.

IMO, consoles and libraries are as unique as they ever were. So tons of people are playing the latest Madden or CoD whether they have a PS3 or 360...they were doing the same on SNES and Genesis, just with Street Fighter II and, well, Madden. Then one might pop in Sonic, or Gears of War, while the other plays Mario, or maybe Uncharted...

That being said, I don't really understand the desire for multiple, firmly unique systems. Why do we actually want a fractured market that demands several multi-hundred dollar purchases, sets of accessories, and so on just to be able to have access to any/all content released?

I would like to add that , when we speak graphics , the best of graphics are usually put out by Triple A titles (known as hardcore games) like Uncharted , GT, Metal Gear... etc . I am not sure if developers are going with those games for the Mario Kart/Cooking Mama crowd.

I guess we all know the path of PS4/720 but we do not know how the Wii U will turn out, is it going to be another novelty for children or is it going after the "hardcore" market or are we going to get a mix of both?

Can some one please tell us what games are coming for the Wii U? Usually a console maker holds out on games before the announcement of the console , but by the time the console have been out for several months we usually know what games are coming for almost two years ahead but I know none of the Wii U's

I don't understand why people are hating on the wii u. Sure now it's not doing too hot, but nintendo doesn't really have a console seller game yet. I loved the wii last generation. It has recieved more play from me than my 360 or ps3. Mainly because most ps3 or 360 games can be had on a pc. I can only hope that the wii u will be gifted with the same amount of zany unique games that the wii had.

Probably depends more on what appeals to the individual. Nintendo can hype Pikmin or Nintendoland all they want, I'm not paying $300+ for a console to play them. Other people might.

So far they haven't shown a traditional Nintendo system seller, like a new Zelda title. They've indicated they're making one, but that's practically a given. The announced games that aren't just new revisions of Nintendo franchises were mentioned a couple pages back or so.

I'm going to keep my Wii U after all. I'll keep it boxed up until Wind Waker HD comes. :)

Hopefully Nintendo really brings it at E3. They need to show games worth buying the system for, and plenty of them.
