How so? I've already explained why it's a horrible movie (and it is extremely horrible), so you tell me why I'm wrong. I challenge you to defend it.
Hahaha, he will. I don't think I've ever seen BurningDoom dislike a comic book film, regardless of the general consensus.

I don't usually dislike them either, but Amazing Spider-man was one of the few I never want to see again. Even that crappy 1990 Captain America movie was better.

1. Great story, check.

2. Great special effects, check.

3. Cool battles, check.

4. Good, emotionally driven acting, check.

What's bad about it? (Other than the costume)

Oh, there's plenty of bad comic films out there. Pretty much any Marvel movie released before Blade is TERRIBLE. Superman 3 & 4 were terrible. Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Tank Girl. Any Crow movie after the first one. Spider-Man 3. X-Men 3. And Man-Thing takes the cake...no, I take that back. Catwoman takes the cake.

Catwoman's not so bad if you think of it as an Elseworlds movie. I've always said that if they'd advertised it that way, they might have avoided some of the backlash. And the 1980s Punisher movie isn't bad either for a grindhouse flick, which is pretty much what it is.

What's bad about Amazing Spider-Man? Only everything. It is, without question, the WORST comic book movie I've EVER seen. It's worse than The Spirit, Punisher War Zone and Supergirl combined. And I don't say that lightly either. I can know a film is terrible and still enjoy it (Battleship, House Of The Dead, Howard The Duck, etc), so if I say that I hated a movie, that means it was too bad even for me, and that's a rare thing. The fact that there are people on the Marvel forums who bash Raimi's trilogy and praise this garbage in the same post makes me embarassed to admit publically that I'm a comic book fan. I don't want people thinking I have anything to do with them.

I'll bash the hell out of Spider-Man 3. Freaking emo Peter Parker, pfft. But Spider-Man 1 & 2 were awesome! Well, minus the Green Goblin Power Ranger costume. Huh, there seems to be a running problem with costumes in Spider-Man films.

It's obvious that you hate Amazing Spider-Man. You have elaborately explained how much you hate it. But you haven't told what about it you don't like. Did you think it was a poor story? Untrue to the comics? Bad acting? Bad special effects? What?

I'll back BurningDoom on this. Amazing Spider-Man was a good movie. I think Emma Stone was great in it, and her and Peter had good chemistry. The special effects and fights were good and the story was mostly true to what we know about classic Spider-Man

I also like Superman Returns, which also gets a lot of hate. So I really don't care about popular opinion. If I think a movie is good...it's good. Period.

From a few pages back:
Retrodude wrote:The one comic book film I truly hate is The Amazing Spider-Man. The cast is okay, no real complaints there, but I felt that Peter Parker was horribly out of character for most of it. The film turned him into an even bigger whiny bitch/arrogent jackass than people claim he was in Spider-Man 3 and yet, somehow, a lot of people said that that was better. I don't get it. In the dinner scene, I actually found myself siding with Captain Stacy. That's bad writing because you're supposed to be on Peter's side and I just couldn't be. I was really disappointed because I know Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves can do better than that and I honestly wonder what went wrong. Fortunately, Sony seems to have realized that they messed up because Orci and Kurtzman are writing the sequel. There may be hope for the series yet.
There ya go. Peter Parker is supposed to be the Everyman. The weak, dweeby character you root for because deep down, you're just like him. But ASM made him the most unlikeable protaganist I've seen in a really, really long time. How anyone can say that's an improvement is beyond me.

Worse than Spider-Man 3? Peter broke out into show tunes for crying out loud!

I didn't have any problems with Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man, personally. But I can't deny he did seem a bit different than the comic Peter Parker.

Like letting the store get robbed purely out of spite as opposed to letting a thief get away because the wrestling manager was cheating him out of the money he'd earned (which is still spiteful, but much more understandable). That's just one of many reasons I dislike the new Parker. Even in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics that the film was allegedly based on, he was never that much of an asshole.
