I still haven't played the PS1 version. Why - again - is it better than the Saturn? I don't think I've ever gotten a clear cut answer. For TFIII, it's clear that Genesis > SNES.

I've never played the Saturn version of Donpachi so can't compare. I heard on forums that the Saturn version was a bit more pixelly and the scoring didn't work right. I was lucky to be offered a good deal on a PS copy so went for it. Great game but still pretty hard, like all the Dodonpachi games (to me anyway)!

I know that the sound is much better in the ps1 port. There is no nasty sound during explosions.

I think they also shortened the loading time in between stages and improved the graphics, but I'm not positive on those. I'd have to pop them in, as its been quite a while.

Having beaten Thunderforce III on MD I'm now playing Thunderforce AC on Saturn! (a much better evolution of the game in a lot of people's opinions, and I have to agree with them)

After improving on Strikers recently, I revisited Dragon Blaze and made it to 1-5 for the first time (was stuck at Stage 4 boss before). Didn't last long on Stage 5, though...score was around 450k.

So I reckon I've made it to 1-5 or 1-6 in most Psikyo shmups now. Not sure about Sol Divide though. Or Space Bomber. Maybe I should check that out again, haven't played it much.

Mostly the Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings series for now.

I intermittently throw in some DDP, Shikigami lll, and I started on the original Zanac the other day.

Sol Divide is a tough game to get into and the screen feels "condensed", you feel very trapped at the left of the screen, didn't care for this game.

Tengai is a bit better and has more of a shmup feel than Sol Divide, i'd recommend that if you're in the mood for a Psikyo hori.
