Someone please help, Dual Shock 3 related

Post by JC48573 »

I have 2 controllers and one is like an older model of DS3 because the quality it's pretty top notch compared to the later model of the same. The problem with the new ones is the damn left stick where it tends to grind against the ring causing to shave off some of the plastic. Is there a way fix that? My old DS3 doesn't have that problem at all. yes both are "DS3" not the sixaxis.

Not clear, the good or bad controller has that greasy feel?

Any lubricant in there should help prevent the plastic shavings. Just not too much that will get to the electrical or deteriorate the rubber top.

I recommend not using thick lubricant (like silicone grease) unless you wipe all of it off.

If the lubricant builds up between the button and the side casing it will cause the button to stick. I has this happen when I cleaned my xbox controllers. I put a little grease around the buttons to prevent the plastic from grinding. When I was finished one of the buttons would remain depressed for a small period of time after releasing it. So I took the controller back apart and cleaned all the grease off and it works fine.

I'm not sure if my situation would happen will all types of lube, maybe I just used the wrong kind.

Edit: disregard my post. I could have sworn I read button. Since you said stick and I must be seeing things, just follow what CRT said and put a little grease on them. It's pretty much vital if you want your sticks to not wear out prematurely. Especially for N64 sticks.
