Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
Re: Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
For me, it is between the PC Engine Core (original model) and the Game Boy Advance SP. The former because it is so compact and sturdy. The latter is solely for looks (it sure ain't for comfort). It is so compact, yet still so classically gameboy square. It almost seems like the most successful (visually) inheritor of the original Gameboy throne. Although, on brick toughness the original probably wins.

Concerning the TG-16: Really? I own one, and it looks cheap and flimsy to me. Especially the switch (rather than a button like on most consoles), and the power indicator is nothing more than an orange sticker.marurun wrote:For me, it is between the PC Engine Core (original model) and the Game Boy Advance SP. The TurboGrafx isn't just a PC Engine with a different name slapped on. It's completely different in terms of design. Not really comparable.BurningDoom wrote:Concerning the TG-16: Really? I knew that. I don't know why my brain told me TG-16.AppleQueso wrote:The TurboGrafx isn't just a PC Engine with a different name slapped on. It's completely different in terms of design. Re: Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
I'm not a fan of the original white PCE, that's why I specified the PCE Core. Original means not the Core II. Though, the reasons I'm not a fan of the original core have nothing to do with your complaints. All Cores are actually quite durable. They feel solid. And there's no question whether the thing is on or not. I like that it locks the HuCard slot. I also like how it so neatly integrates with a variety of peripherals, like the original briefcase CD-ROM2, the Super CD-ROM2, and the TG-CD unit. Additionally, the Core I (not II) has an updated chip in it to correct a minor error that improves some audio results. My understanding is that only the SuperGrafx also has this chip update, and that the Core II and Duos reverted to the original chip version.BurningDoom wrote:Concerning the TG-16: Really? In terms of hardware only, I'd have to go with the Atari 2600:

I just love the look of it and that joystick just screams "videogame". Also, The 2600 has my favorite looking cartridges.

^Any specific model pereference? Heavy sixer?
Re: Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
I prefer the woodgrain to the all-black "vader" model, but otherwise, no, not really.
