Re: Which System Do I Choose?
3DO is a novelty item. The best games are expensive and hard to find.
PSP has tons of great games - many of them are cheap right now and easy to find.
I'd go with PSP.

Those are all good points. The collector side of me wants the 3DO because, as gamerforlife said, I don't know if I'll ever see one in the wild again and if I'm gonna get one, I'd rather have the ability to easily return it if it doesn't work. The gamer side of me wants the PSP for the cheap games and the ability to run emulators. Question: can you use any old SD card with the PSP or does it have to be an official Sony one specifically?
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

The PSP doesn't use SD cards; it uses Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, Sony's own format. Despite their proprietary nature, you can get a 16 GB card online for relatively cheap. If you're buying one on Ebay, however, don't buy anything that has a stock image as the item image, as it's almost certainly a knockoff and won't work for more than a few minutes.Retrodude wrote:Those are all good points. Trust me, hacking the PSP will be the smartest move you'll ever make as a gamer.

Re: Which System Do I Choose?
If you're a serious enough collector you'll get a kick out of owning a 3DO.
If you're buying one though just for the sake of "novelty" value, you'll probably end up quite disappointed.
I'd go for that PSP. It will keep you busy for a long time to come.
Your gamer self will thank you for it.

I ended up not getting either (I would've ultimately gone with the PSP after much deliberation, but all they had at the moment was a Vita, which doesn't interest me as much), but as it turns out, I'll be getting a new system in the next few days anyway. A friend of mine got a new Xbox 360 and offered me his old one. If I can get it working, it's mine. It hasn't got the RROD (yet), but it's having trouble reading discs. He thinks it just needs to be taken apart and cleaned and he doesn't want to bother with it. If that's all it takes, I might have found my new emulation machine.

Re: Which System Do I Choose?
Are emulators available for the 360 now?

Searching youtube, it looks like there's a few, but the videos are from two years ago, so I imagine there might be more by now. I'm gonna have to look into that.
