Here's a thought: Wouldn't it be awesome if there was an online deathmatch game where one player was Jason and the other players were camp counselors? If "Jason" killed all the other players, he'd win, but if they killed him (in a group or solo), they'd win. Why haven't the game companies thought of this?

Chronicles of Riddick Dark Athena has a multiplayer mode like that called Pitch Black. Its everyone vs Riddick and whoever kills him becomes Riddick for the next round. Its quite a bit of fun actually.

One of those crappy games that sticks with me is 3d World Runner for the NES. Sure its no Space Harrier, but it reminds me of Easters at my cousins house in the country. He had that, Final Fantasy 1, RBI Baseball, and Mario 1, so pickings were slim to begin with.

I have a soft spot in my heart (cholesterol??) for Captain Skyhawk for the NES. Probably the worst shmup ever but it's something I think about all the time. Even during the more intimate moments.

Here's some LJN games that I think are good:

Jaws (NES) may be really difficult, but I remember spending a lot of time on this one. I'm sure any NES fans who are about my age feel the same way. Believe it or not, it was a pretty big hit back then. I feel like everyone had a copy.

Major League Baseball (NES) there's nothing really special about this one, in fact it's very close to gameplay and look/feel of Bases Loaded really, but it happened to be the baseball game that my dad bought me, so it's the one I played. I can actually remember my dad and uncle learning how to play it too (I think the only video game I've ever seen my dad play). It's not a great game, but a good one. I still enjoy it.

Friday The 13th (NES) is still really hard. But the graphics are cool (it looks like Camp Crystal Lake) and the music is awesome. I think everyone knows this game is better than they say it is -- but fear disagreeing with AVGN.

A Nightmare On Elm Street (NES)... do this: hit "search" above. Then in the KEYWORD box type NIGHTMARE ELM STREET then in the USER box type NOISEREDUX. You should get lots of posts of me talking about how great this game is.

NBA All Star Challenge (GB) there's actually 2 of these and they're both decent. Think of them as basketball mini-games. Shoot-outs and slam dunk contests, etc. Fun stuff for short bursts.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Game Boy Adventure (GB) I don't even care, this game is BETTER than Bug's Bunny Crazy Castle. There I said it. It's a puzzle/platform game, much like that series, but it controls really really well. Trust me. It shocked me, but it's awesome.

Alien 3 (GB) this one is really impressive actually. There's a post on HG101 about this game (on the blog) which I thought was so amazing in its praise that it actually inspired me to start my own blog! Alien 3 is actually a game that displays a vast understanding of how to visually create a maximized experience using the limitations of the GB's screen. Everything is detailed enough to make sense to you, but simple enough to not be too busy, big enough to handle, yet small enough to not cramp. Very efficient.

T2: The Arcade Game (GB) it's a fucking on-rails shooter! On the GB! And it's good!!!

no. It was made by the same company (LJN), but had very different mechanics. Nightmare On Elm Street is one of my favorite NES games of all time. You play as a generic teenager, and go from house to house looking for Freddy's bones to burn in the incinerator. What's awesome is that as time goes on, you get tired and then fall asleep. Once you're asleep, the levels completely change into nightmare versions (so there's 2 versions of every stage -- awake and asleep versions). In the nightmare versions you can change characters into the different dream warriors (athlete, wizard, ninja) who each have different weapons and jumping abilities. The game supported four-player co-op, which is fantastic. Also, the music is in-fucking-credible.

I always talk this game up on the forum. But the fact is, I just straight up love it.
