Goodbye, collecting community.

Post by Luigiman »

It's been quite a journey for me.
I've had many good times, I've had many bad times.
Video games have been great to me, I've had so much fun collecting, finding, and playing video games.
But, alas, that time ends now.
I won't go into details, but I've made some grave mistakes (which I'll keep to myself) which will force me to sell off my entire video game collection.
Well, most of it. I'm keeping my current gen consoles, again for reasons only to be known by me.

I really wish this didn't have to be the end, but my own stupidity has brought me here.

Not only does my video game collection have to go, but so does my camera collection. I'm an avid camera fan, and have 40-50 cameras in my collection. Sadly, almost all of them are being sold as well.

I will be posting the eBay auctions for my collections some time tonight, or so.

I'm sorry for the self promotion, and, if asked, I will take this down.

But I really need to recoup costs, and I was hoping maybe you guys could help.

I don't have a large collection, or a rare one at that, but I seriously need this money.

This is my last foray in video gaming, most likely, and I will miss it very much.

Good day, and happy video gaming to all!

Post links to your ebay! Sorry to hear it man. I one ran into that situation and had to sell off most of my collection. It was sell them or sell my 1978 caprice coupe aeroback with 25,000 miles on it at that point. I was not going to sell my grandfather's car that is for sure. Sorry to hear about this dude. For a collector, nothing hurts more then seeing a collection leave your hands. Kinda leaves a void. I enjoy owning games as much as i enjoy playing them to be honest.

No need to be so dramatic, you can always just rebuild it later you know.

I know that (:

I'm not exactly in the financial position (or any for that matter) to do it now, or for a very long time, man.

And, again, it's more the sentimental value than anything that hurts the most.

I started this collection when I was 9, with an NES, and now, 6 years later, I have to sell everything I have.

I had a lot of experiences along the way, and many fond memories connected to the games I have gotten.

I'll admit maybe "Goodbye, collecting community" is a bit dramatic, but I really won't be in the position to collect for a number of years.

Edit:
Alright, I see your point, this is maybe too overblown and dramatic, a simple "Whoops made some mistakes, won't be back for a while!" probably would have cut it.
I was emotional at the time.
Let's try to pass this off as a cheesy story, shall we?
I could still really use all of your help recouping at least some costs!

How much do you think you could actually get for all your stuff? Sometimes it turns out that it's not as much as you thought and not really worth it, or maybe another solution might present itself that you'll be less likely to regret down the line.

Well, I can't tell you to be honest.
When I post what I have on eBay tomorrow, you can judge for yourself.
Right now, though, I really choice but to sell.
What my parents say, goes!
Also thank you for helping me realize how overly emotional I was being.

Backing up for a second because I missed this bit:

...So you're only 15? Dude, definitely don't sweat it. Once you're on your own, working full time, you'll have more disposable income than you know what to do with. You'll quickly find yourself with a collection that makes what you have now look like nothing.

Hah, you're right, thanks.

Really, I'm just more worried about my current situation than my collection now, that's what really prompted my long post.

It's just right now I really need to recoup some costs (have I said that enough?) from what I have.

But, soon, this will just be a small blemish on me.

To many years of gaming collecting to come.

Just do what i did. Go to college and work a full time job as a night auditor at a hotel. Spend every bit of spare cash on video games. That is were 85% of my collection came from. Now that im so much older and have a house im paying for and bills. Also a tip for the future. Don't get out of college and buy a new car immediately. I have never paid for a car with anything but cash. Hell with all the cheap grandma mobile marquis and town cars for cheap, i dont know why you would to begin with. Let me tell you. There is nothing more american or comfortable then a town car. Bench seat up front and shifter on the column, just how it should be.

For a second I thought this was some super serious shit - but you're just a kid! You'll survive this and one day start collecting again.
