Are there any Police games that are good?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

The Streets of Rage games on Sega Genesis, of course. Some of the cream of the crop as far as 2D beat-em ups go.

Future Cop L.A.P.D. is another really fun one on the PS1. Open areas to explore and blow the hell out of everything in site in what is basically a police hovercraft Transformer. And some of the best multiplayer modes on the PS1.

I meant it wasn't a first person shooter kill everything in sight type game. You TRY to arrest but if neeeded you could get into gunfights. Am I the only one that thinks it would be a interesting game to play?

I can't believe there are this many posts here already, and nobody's mentioned the only two games that matter in this category:

In a similar spirit to police games, there are several video games based on the Judge Dredd comic series which allow the player to choose between arresting or shooting suspects. I realize that it's a pretty far leap from legitimate police work, but it's something.

Also, I believe the Police Quest series was recommended on the first page? They are point-and-click games that you might enjoy.

You might also consider checking out APB: All Points Bulletin. It's free-to-play on Steam I believe. It's more of an MMOTPS I suppose, so not sure if you would be interested.

Oh, and it's full of gunplay and less on the driving, arresting, or detective bits, but Stranglehold might interest you, as it's a continuation of the movie Hardboiled.

There are also 12 games based on the CSI series and its Miami and NYC offshoots.

SWAT 3 Gold is fantastic. It's much more like being a cop than other games because you really can't go in guns blazing and do well. You are supposed to follow protocol.
