What do you guys do when you can't choose what to play?
Re: What do you guys do when you can't choose what to play?
I find that multiplayer online games spell doom for backlogs. You will never get around to playing anything from the list if you have WoW, Starcraft, CoD, etc installed and available. It is just too easy to be lazy and double click on that icon, play all night, and have nothing to show for it afterward.
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

Re: What do you guys do when you can't choose what to play?
These days it's actually a rather simple task for me. Typically if I'm interested in a bunch of games, I just start playing all of them. The ones I'm meant to play will suck me in and I won't be able to stop playing them. The ones I'm not meant to play simply lose my interest. That's natural process of elimination right there. I find that now as I'm in my thirties and have been doing this a long time, some games will appeal to my wants and needs as a gamer and others won't. One thing I've come to learn is that simply being a high rated, popular title doesn't mean it's going to be a game I like. So I no longer feel obligated to play through and finish something just because it's popular or high rated. There are no more "must plays" in my world. There's what is good enough to hook me in for the long haul, and there's what isn't.
I'm voting Genesis just because it's a less daunting task than playing every notable SNES game, and the Wii's library doesn't even compare to the glory days of the 16-bit era.

Played Castle of Illusion again today, and I got to (and lost) at the final boss (unless it pulls a Sonic/Final Fantasy on me and there are a ton of "final" bosses).
I lost many lives in the library level trying to jump from rope to rope while avoiding the planes, only to realize that Mickey kills enemies while he is swinging from a rope or vine.....well, that will make my next playthrough a lot easier
.
I think the game is a bit easy after all, so I will probably clear it next time I play it.
What should I try next?
Earthworm Jim
Alladin
Rolling Thunder 2

Of the remaining list, my girlfriend just suggested you try going in alphabetical order, since it is only three games.

hm, Alladin first then? Well it's the easiest of those 3 games, so I guess why not. I'm dreading getting to Earthworm Jim though. That game can take me a long time to get to the final levels, and at that point I'm so tired that it kicks my ass :/Ack wrote:Of the remaining list, my girlfriend just suggested you try going in alphabetical order, since it is only three games.

I never force myself into games really, though I hate the backlog building up myself but oh well. I'll just take short breaks, watch more anime or do other things until the mood strikes again and I'll have a feel for what I want to hit up. Usually how it works for me.

I just sell off games I know I will NEVER get around to playing. Like in my Mega Drive collection I also have strider, but I just didn't enjoy the game enough to play it a second time, nor do I plan to ever finish it, so I want to sell it off first chance I get, and I don't consider it part of my backlog.Xeogred wrote:I never force myself into games really, though I hate the backlog building up myself but oh well. Too many games, too little time.

Well, having just beaten Jurassic Park, now I'm back to the same problem. I know I want to play more SNES games, but do I play an RPG, a shmup, a fighting game, a run-and-gun, or a platformer?
