Re: My son's custom arcade cab for cubscouts, WIP
We put the chair together last night. He had one small split on the top back-rest rail. They are only 1/2" rails, so the pilot holes and screws need to be dead center to avoid break-through.
He did 12 total holes / screws on the 3 back rails, so only one minor split is very good, hardly noticeable, but he felt bad. He just was a bit off center :/
That will be the hardest part, the rest is all 2x2 or 2x3 stock, so much greater room for error. The plywood is going through the meat, not the edges, so that will be very easy as well.
I felt really bad for the boy (wyatt) working on the coffee pot coaster, it was pretty clear he felt "left out" when he saw the others working on their larger, more intricate pojects. He asked if he could do a couple of the pilot holes on the chair legs, and Aidric let him, so that was cool.
Pretty excited - he plans to be done for the Blue and Gold banquet on the 25th.

We were so jealous of one of the other packs in the area since they had arcade games at the place they did their Blue and Gold Banquets. Your child is living what the 10 year old me dreamed.mjmjr25 wrote:Pretty excited - he plans to be done for the Blue and Gold banquet on the 25th.

Really awesome stuff, the kind of memories your kids will have forever. Know a good dad when I see one, top shelf stuff.

Getting close, he still needs to trim / sand / stain / poly, but the construction phase is completely done, so he wanted to use it today.
