I watched this today too!Luke wrote:

I still adore this movie. It's far fetched, yet it is dead on. I quote it all the time and will probably never get tired of watching it. "Look at Laurence's head", "It's the BOMB!" remains one of my favorite lines from the 90's.
I somehow had forgotten that Alicia smokes the pot at the big party. In fact, she almost demands it.
And I too, still adore this movie.

So today I watched Out for a Kill

So Steven Seagal is a fat, mulleted professor of Chinese history who also happens to have been an incredible thief back in his good ol' days and who managed to completely transform his life after going to prison in the 1980s. Plus, he knows kung fu. And the Chinese mafia, who speak in English most of the time and have riddles tattooed upon themselves, decide they can frame him for drug trades to protect themselves. From this point on, Seagal goes to Chinese prison, gets freed by the US/Chinese government, and then gets followed around by the most inept pair of detectives I've ever seen as he wanders the globe murdering random Chinese guys he just happens to find.
If you want my opinion of the film, it can be summed up with a simple sentence:
"HahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAhahAHHAHAHAHahahahaha...oh man, that's bad CG."
Yeah, that's pretty much it. I wasn't expecting a good film from Seagal, whose best film days are far behind him. But this direct-to-DVD release is just plain bad.
Still better than his energy drink line though.

Dungeonmaster (1985)

So terrible. So incredibly terrible. It's obviously a low-budget movie from the terrible special effects and laugh-out-loud costumes. The story is hokey, and the acting seems like it's from a local high school drama club. Don't ever come near this movie.
I was curious because I had heard it starred Blackie Lawless, who is the lead-singer of the 80s band W.A.S.P. "Starred" is used loosely as he has a small role.

Hmmm... I might need to see that one. I do love a good, cheesy b-movie now and then.

Come on Children
I mean even back in the 70s, the name had to be a joke. It should have had a comma in there. like Come on, Children. It's a sort of documentary with 10 kids ages 13-19 living on a farm for 12 weeks. I think this is where the guy/girl who invented the Real World on MTV got the idea. Has to be.
Anyway, the only reason I watched this is because a kid named Alex Zivojinoich is in it, better known as a 19 year old Alex Lifeson of the band RUSH.
I'll admit I skipped forward a few times but it's basically just 10 kids doing what they want in a farmhouse for a few weeks. No real story to it, nothing. I was hoping that Lifeson would reference RUSH by name a few times, but he didn't. He just mentioned that his band was important to him, and so on. They just sit around smoking weed, drinking beer and apparently one of them shoots up heroine, I think. Not real sure. i just saw a spoon, and a kid using a needle.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Last night, my family watched:
The Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) - It was a lot of fun, and everyone in the family enjoyed it. Moreover, despite the fact that it is animated its is wholly a Wes Anderson film, and it has his "fingerprints" all over it. Honestly, out of all of his films, I rank it behind only "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tennenbaums", and it is much better than either "Bottle Rocket" or "The Life Aquatic". (I have not seen "Darjeeling Limited" or "Moonrise Kingdom"...) In any event, I recommend it to anyone that is a fan of Wes Anderson films, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Wes Anderson films and has children.

What about Roald Dahl fans? I've always thought that James And The Giant Peach was the best adaptation of his work. How does Fantastic Mr. Fox compare?

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
My life loved Roald Dahl books growing up, but neither she nor I enjoyed James and the Giant Peach. (I liked it when it was released, but I watched it a few years ago and found it almost intolerable. My wife thought that the film adaptation ruined the "spirit" of the book.) Accordingly, I thought that The Fantastic Mr. Fox is vastly superior to James and the Giant Peach, but - since I have such disdain for the latter film - I might not be the best person to ask...
