Pikmin opinions?
Does anyone recommend the first pikmin? A retro game stre near me has three copies of it for 16. I was wanting to get one but decided to do a little research and will go back next weekend probably. Thanks!

Re: Pikmin opinions?
I greatly prefer Pikmin 2, but the first one is still a fun game. It's not very long, but you may find yourself replaying it to collect all of the ship parts in a single run.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

YES. A fun game that cost a lot more online. The Gamecube and Wii versions each have an advantages and disadvantages depending on how you play it.someone3760 wrote:Does anyone recommend the first pikmin? I'd say it is a must have for any Gamecube owner.
Its not a hard game, but it is a lot of fun.
Plus, women love all the cute little animals and how they help you.

Re: Pikmin opinions?
Go get it! The second one is indeed better, but the first is still great.
Re: Pikmin opinions?
I greatly prefer the first game. The second game has no tension. The first game has a time limit. The second game, I just felt like I was dicking around and having to farm for purple/white to get some of the objects. I actually stopped playing after I "beat" the game because it was no longer fun. The first game, I would replay over and over.
*edit* I read that review and what kind of newb would actually need to cheat or reload to get all the ship parts? I did it with two days to spare on my very first play through with no outside help and barely trying.

I collected everything in Pikmin 2 and spent hours just farming Pikmin. As I recall, I got at least 999 for the main three colors.Zing wrote:I greatly prefer the first game. EDIT:Needless to say, the first game's time limit frustrated me.

Re: Pikmin opinions?
Pikmin's one of those series that most people who have played it seem to like, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who would list a Pikmin as their favorite game. If you have a Wii or Gamecube I recommend getting both, but get the second on Wii if you can. You'll save a lot of money.

Re: Pikmin opinions?
The challenge of Pikmin 2 is more intertwined with actually gaining pieces and exploring dungeons rather than with a time limit. Enemy patterns are more difficult in Pikmin 2 and traps are deadlier (especially because of the introduction of electricity as an instant kill for pikmin). The bosses in Pikmin 1 aren't pushovers, but some of the later bosses in Pikmin 2 will flat out destroy you in seconds if you don't have a plan going in. These elements work well with the dungeon system, as the challenge starts shifting more towards carefully utilizing your pikmin and trying to keep enough to make it to the bottom and pass the final obstacle. Where Pikmin 1 is about time management, Pikmin 2 is about resource management. Sure you have theoretically infinite resources on the surface, but once you're down below all you've got is the 100 you brought with you.Zing wrote:I greatly prefer the first game.
