I believe i'm in in the top 5 on the official worldwide scoreboards (and the 2nd or 3rd highest within the US players) MANIAC. Though I haven't even checked recently where i'm at these days

Alright, after my first 4 runs on this game - i'm very impressed. By the 3rd run the switching from spread-->Rear-->Missile was already becoming intuitive. I know there is a ton of scoring that i'm missing and I don't have the 2nd boss's pattern down quite yet, but it seems easy enough.

No idea what the tech bonuses are and i'm guessing the no miss and shield bonuses will add nicely to the score once I can actually do those. Will def. be giving this a lot more time.

And a question - is there a reason you wouldn't select "turn off slow load times" in the options menu?

I'll get on the board with this:
526,083,250 - mjmjr25 - 852 hit - Stage 3 - DC - Original

I was curious about the slow load time thing myself. No idea.

The tech bonuses I've found are on stages 1 and 3 (I think it's 3). You get them for destroying the extra non-core parts of the boss. On stage 1 it takes me a couple shields to get the tech bonus, but the bonus itself is a shitload of points, way more than the extra shield bonus would be.

Ah, Fast Striker. Nice. I have a score on the NG:Dev site scoreboard...(Original, 6+billion, "mamahaha2049")...even have that run captured and on my Youtube channel.

That was nearly 2 years ago though, and I haven't touched the game since. So doubtful I can immediately get that now. But perhaps it's a good time to dig the game out again... :)

Yeah. And each boss has this tech bonus; stages 2 and 4 just aren't so obvious (and I'm not sure about stage 6). For stage 2, during the boss's "2nd form", after a few attack patterns, 3 small spinning bits will drop, 1 from its left side first, then center, then right. Shoot all 3 for the tech bonus. It's easy to kill the boss before it drops the bits so be careful. Stage 4 boss is something similar...

What I didn't get was all the "secrets found". It seems to be just shooting certain stuff during the stage that makes those white...cat things appear in place of medals... Gives decent points I think, but no miss and tech bonuses are the biggies.

And as for turning off slow load times, it's been awhile, but I think the game has some little intro scenes and maybe some animations between stages. "Turn off slow load times" just cuts that stuff out. Very minor.

I was wondering if you might have to 'sandbag' a bit to get the bonus on the 2nd boss. I'll look for it later. Thanks!

I took one run last night and ended up unexpectedly beating my high score. I had the stage6 boss down to about 25% health left. One of these days I'll get that SOB.

On stage 3, the orbs that stick out the green electric lines...can you kill them, or do you just have to navigate around them?

Did another run last night and got to 800mil + and hit the first tech bonus. Liking this game and getting things sorted. I'm coasting through stage 1 pretty good now and most of stage 2, stage 3 i'm a bit lost yet.

You just have to dodge them.

I had shelved this game after a couple inital runs. I got to play the MVS version at southtown arcade last year, but still didn't do much with the DC version. I dug it out to test my dreamcast on my PVM when that showed up a few weeks ago, and I've been hooked since.

Alright, starting to coast a bit through first 2 stages and have both bosses down pretty well. Not so well that i'm going for the 2nd tech bonus yet though.

3rd Stage becoming more manageable now that i'm not trying to blast those orbs and hit the boss my last 2 runs. Got the tech bonus on 3rd boss and thought he was finished, only to see a 3rd form come out :/ I'll have to play that boss a few times to find a safe way through, it was more panic dodging than planned dodging - very unique boss fight there.

A little over 1.2 bil at this point, will post a score later...enjoying this game.

Are the slow loading between stages present on the MVS cart?
