I'm a huge Mega Man fan. My First video game love was Mega Man I played the crap out of 2 and 3. I can probably beat 3 blindfolded I've played it so much. I got Mega Man 9 and 10 pretty much the second they came to XBLA a month after everyone else got it. Played both to death 10 I like more than 9. Currently my favorite game in the Original series is 8.
8 changed up Mega Man conventions like a good sequel should. granted 7 also changed alot of things but not really for the better. It looked good but wasn't really memorable.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Powered up.
Then we have the X series which my younger friends prefer but Aside from the first X, X4, X7 and X8 I'm not a huge fan. X2 and X3 are just too hard for me. X5 and X6 have literally given me migraines. While X7 was a good experiment and X8 was well still too hard for me but still enjoyable. Mavrick Hunter X was fantastic too if not TOO easy.
But what's the consensus? do we have a preferred Mega Man? I know I skipped Starforce and EXE, Zero, ZX and Legends, to me they aren't pure Mega man Games. Zero and ZX strayed WAY too far from what a Mega Man Game is and should be.
Which Flavor of Mega Man do you prefer? Original or X?

Of original and X I would have to say X because the X series were the first ones I played.
Of all of Mega Man I would have to say the Battle Network Series.

Dash instead of Slide is more useful. But the schavenger hunt of finding the upgrade capsules is a real pain in the ass in X2 and x3 and I haven't even bothered to look in X5 and X6.TheGrimAngel wrote:Of original and X I would have to say X because the X series were the first ones I played.

I grew up with Classic but game play is pretty basic, Jump, Shoot, sometimes slide and charge. Still it's Iconic and the bosses are SOOOOOOO much more memorable than the Mavericks plus they kept their names across regions.

I love the enhanced graphics of the X series but the classic 1-6 on NES hold a special place for me so i'll have to choose the orignal series. My favorite issue of Nintendo Power is probably the one with Mega Man III on it. I think it was the first issue I got in the mail when I was only 7 years old.

Classic is probably more consistent as a franchise. When X works, however, it really works.

I wish I still had that issue I read it so much as a kid it wore out. That one had the Schematics for Mega Man too. I still have the issue with X though.8bit wrote:I love the enhanced graphics of the X series but the classic 1-6 on NES hold a special place for me so i'll have to choose the orignal series. 3 and 10 remain the only Mega Man games I can beat with out the need for action replay codes.
I can beat X and...that's it far as the X series goes. I'm working on X4 now though with both X and Zero. The game is a BITCH with Zero. More of a bitch with X and a breeze with Ultimate Armor X

It's not even a contest for me. The X series had better graphics, sound, music (WAY better music),story, gameplay, and replayability. Plus, Zero is cooler to me than any character in the classic series. He's one of my favorite video game characters, or was before Mega Man Zero ruined him with an awful redesign. MMX4 is my favorite Mega Man game of all time, even though the english dub sucked. I consider the SNES trilogy classics though
The MM X series is also more serious and darker than the classic series. I always gravitate to darker characters and stories. It's why I like Batman better than Superman and Faith/Angel better than Buffy. Zero is a much darker character than Mega Man and appeals to me more

I came here just to jokingly suggest battle network.TheGrimAngel wrote:Of original and X I would have to say X because the X series were the first ones I played.

I like both Mega Man and Mega Man X. I think the former is classic, the second a bit more bad ass. It just depends on my mood.
