Call of Duty - enough of the military fetishism
Grand Theft Auto - enough of the adolescent boy revenge fantasies
Gears of War - thanks but we already have a muscled-men-killin'-aliens series that isn't shitty, it's called Contra
Madden - how about we allow Tecmo and Konami (and Sega lol) to make some NFL games again

Re: Franchises that you want to see DIE!
When it comes to franchises that have just gone downhill... I dunno, I guess I just think that most formerly-great franchises aren't necessarily beyond saving. I mean, if Mortal Kombat and Sonic the Hedgehog can make proper comebacks after a long string of abysmal titles, then any franchise can.
Re: Franchises that you want to see DIE!
I can see what you mean with this, but did you play Transformed?? It is the best kart racer I have ever played, and a lot of people here would agree. There is a ton of fan service, even if there may not be hope for new installments.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I would also like the Sonic all Stars Racing Series to end. Why do they need to keep pouring salt into wounds by adding racers that we will never see new games of? Let's put in Ryo Hazuki, Beat, the dwarf from Golden Axe....Why lord why do you torture us?

Re: Franchises that you want to see DIE!
Only going to list Franchises ive played, and not just mindlessly bash a Franchise.
Final Fantasy - It is far off from what it used to be, last one i enjoyed was FFIX, after that it became "too japanese" if there is such a thing.
Castlevania - Symphony of the Night changed everything, and i cant say i enjoyed it that much after then, thats when the Metroidvania thing started and im not a huge fan of it. Castlevania: Harmony of Despair really killed it for me, i dont like how its turned into some giant speed run, it just doesnt have the mystery platforming it used to be, where you went from one Stage to the next.
I wouldnt miss this series in its current state. Although i did like where they took Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, but majority of fans would rather have a Metroidvania style game.
Kingdom Hearts - they lost me after the first one, that's all i can say, KH2 was too weird, once again "too japanese"
Mega Man - This one is a grey line for me, since the only Mega Man games i ever liked were X, X2, and X3, i didnt like them after that, and i never liked the original Mega Man, and now we have weird shit like "Mega Man Star Force 3: Black Ace" which shouldnt even have the Mega Man name in it.
and Finally...
Super Mario - Sorry Nintendo your flag-ship franchise is starting to become fail re-cycled trash, i wouldnt miss him, you need to start making new Original franchises, instead of trying to bring back "Kid Icarus" i mean seriously?

Re: Franchises that you want to see DIE!
Call of Duty - Might as well just start naming these games after the year they come out. They've done nothing to change the formula, only the narrative changes. Next up: Call of Duty 13.
Bioshock - Take it or leave it. The first should have been a standalone game. The two other games pale in comparison.
Gears of War - My guess is COGS die from heart attacks and/or some complication involving their circulatory system. Seriously, their biceps are larger than tree trunks. Aside from that, the cover system seems implausible when you take a step back. In reference: http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-g ... nkrupt_p2/
When you boil it down, it feels like Gears of War really is a whack-a-mole simulator.
Pokemon - Why hasn't a 3d version of the game been made? Why not try an action rpg-type game, rather than a turn based system. Certainly Pokemon wouldn't take turns attacking each other, there are plenty of ways to make it more of an action RPG. Instead it's more of the same. Time to change the formula, Nintendo.
HD Remakes of Franchises - This seems to be the flavor of the week. HD Remakes feel like an easy way to cash in, and admittedly, I have for a few. Are these games mainly serving as a fanservice, or do you know of many people who never played these series that are jumping in now? For the price that you pay, it seems fair for what you get, but why do we need HD collections for a series of games that hardly came out 10 years ago?

When they're well done, they look great. I don't really care how recent the games are.Blu wrote: HD Remakes of Franchises - This seems to be the flavor of the week. The Dragon Ball Z: Budokai HD compilation should of been Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 1 and 3, instead, its x10 better than plain Budokai.AppleQueso wrote:When they're well done, they look great. How does Bioshock Infinite pale in comparison if you haven't even played it yet?Blu wrote:Call of Duty - Might as well just start naming these games after the year they come out. They've done nothing to change the formula, only the narrative changes. Next up: Call of Duty 13.
