Seeing that you are so aware of the forum, please pay attention to your own posts and read the very first oh I don't know 16 guidelines which you are referring me to before hypocritically attempting to school someone. I was sharing something helpful and looking for others to share as well. Sue me for not realizing there was a forum for it already or just simply find something better to do with your time and maybe just move on. P.S. you don't need to use profanity, why so serious?

I've broken no rules. I initially offered three friendly suggestions, you reacted like I was attacking you with "sly comments" and you clearly misunderstood what "lurking" was. I then said you were being an idiot about the definition, not that you were inherently one. Yes, I told you that that the rules were posted "fucking everywhere" which is not an insult to you, it is a helpful and colorful suggestion.

In any case, this thread is past due for a lock...

Besides, I miss your constructive criticism and thoughtful counter-arguments. You have always been someone I didn't always see eye to eye with but have always had tremendous respect for.

It is more that you jumped on here and challenged people who have been on here for years. Your main objective seemed to be driving people to your YouTube channel, not discussing your love for games....which is why most are here.

I am sorry if it seemed that way, but in reality I landed on this forum in the first place because I was searching for cheap games and deals and when I saw this community I thought it would be a good idea to ask and share what I have. I created my youtube channel 2 years ago because of my love for games. I have been an avid gamer since I can remember talking, I still own an Atari, the original gameboy down the line to the current gen, I don't need anyone here to subscribe or view my channel but if someone took the time to get to know me, perhaps these assumptions wouldn't have been made.

I think your videos are great and well done...unlike most out there on YouTube. Don't let it bug ya, I posted stuff in the wrong place and broke "rules" on accident when I first started...it is no big deal...and certainly nothing for people to get upset about. Everyone on here is pretty cool and supportive...some take it very seriously. I don't care if you were trying to drive people to your channel, I don't see anything wrong with it...I was just letting you know why you may have gotten the responses you did.

I always have respected you and your opinions as well dsheienem. Which is why I was saddened by this whole thread. I have to be honest with you that it reads like you were being quite a bit more abrasive than I remember. You had no problem letting people know when they were out of line after they had been rude or whatever, but you always kind of had the "let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt." attitude that I really admired. I'm not trying to cause any argument...just pointing out some things that keep me away a bit. It has never been because of you by the way, no matter if we have had some disagreements in the past.

Anyway, I just felt bad for this guy...maybe he was genuinely trying to introduce himself and be helpful at the same time. Nothing wrong with that.

You have a unique perspective on the word friendly, either that or you feel foolish about not paying attention to the guidelines yourself and you are trying to back step and make it seem like you were being oh so helpful and colorful. Either way, it makes no difference because those who have intellect can see past your disguise and those who don't, their opinion means very little. Anyway I owe you my gratitude for hijacking this thread. And agree that it needs to be locked.

No need to feel bad, although I was genuinely attempting to spark a discussion, he did introduce me to the ins and outs of the forum along with some of its members' personas. And thank you for the more positive attitude.

FWIW, keeping things mostly corralled in the 'correct' places is one of the reasons this isn't a crapfest like other game forums that are full of crossposting and garbage. Libraries (of all definitions) are kind of anal retentive too, but that's why you can usually find something if it is there.

I understand it to a point Hobie. Remember before Luke made like 7 or 8 (dump every video, photo, complaint, movie review, etc, etc...) threads*? I don't remember the site being so chaotic back then. It could be that the mods had a harder job though, I certainly could see that point. There is nothing wrong with being organized but it is possible that a thread or two doesn't fit neatly into one of the 1000 page threads and could deserve a look before it is sent directly to the "shelf" if you will. New members should perhaps be given a modicrum of good will until they learn the ropes as well. Anyway, it seems people like it organized, so what do I know? That is just my opinion on it.

For the record, I'm not trying to say the site has gone to hell or anything. There are quite a few members I have a lot of respect for, including and maybe even especially the ones I choose to engage in disagreements with. Each time I have come back I have received very welcoming pms from some of the old crew that knows who I am. I just didn't want to sound self important. What a long winded ramble...

You will find that deep, deep, way down in there, dsh is a cool guy. He used to give me a hard time but we have spoken to each other and gotten to know each other more I learned that.
