What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

On what basis? Because of the dozens of movies you haven't seen?

Seriously (in no order):

JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI
SLEEPWALK WITH ME
LIFE OF PI
LINCOLN
THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
BERNIE
WRECK-IT RALPH
MOONRISE KINGDOM
MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS
PARANORMAN
SKYFALL
LES MESIRABLES
ZERO DARK THIRTY
BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD
JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME
THIS IS 40
DJANGO UNCHAINED
JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI
FRANKENWEENIE
THE RAID: REDEMPTION
THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT
HOPE SPRINGS
2 DAYS IN NEW YORK
COMPLIANCE
WANDERLUST
LOOPER
RISE OF THE GUARDIANS
21 JUMP STREET
SILVER LININGS

...and I'm just getting started. 2012 was great for movies.

You mention the sets being "Too ornate for 1859 Texas" in Django... you know they are only in Texas for a small portion of the movie, right? And there's only one run down town in that part...
Of course. Somehow Foxx and Waltz travel from Texas to Tennessee in no time. But the sets in Texas are too polished. I'm nit picking as I doubt a bar in 1859 has Maker's Mark on hand.

Half of the movies on the list I've seen and none of them I would call 5 star movies.. I mean Hope Springs? Come on.. Les Miserables is overrated.. Skyfall is great so that certainly helps your point.. Moonrise Kingdom was another great movie and should probably be nominated ahead of the other so-called movies of the year... I think this year is similar to 2009, better than 2010 through 2012, but I wouldn't say this is an amazing year for movies.. Certainly no 1994 etc etc..

And how is 2 Days of New York on your list and not End of Watch? I'm no Gyllenhaal fan, but the movie is great!

Btw Jiro is a 2011 movie..

I think I made a bad point weith the 1994 thing... Really there hasn't been many years like that let alone this year... Shawshank, Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, Clerks, The Lion King, Quiz Show and many more.. What a year!!!

I'm totally down for this.

I can sort of see what you are saying, but the whole movie is to be taken with a grain of salt in cases like that. They use cartridges all throughout the movie, despite the fact they would still be using cap and ball at that point. Other small points come through in the movie. It is by no means meant to be accurate- just entertaining.

(Not trying to argue, just a bit aggravated seeing as we're around movie awards time- the majority of movies that win I generally don't like. I don't really get "true" acting and cinema.)

Aw, I knew you'd appreciate my ranking more than dsh, noise. We are of a more similar 'movie-watching' mind.

Any time you want :D

Just keep in mind that if I'm not going to be able to rent it or find it locally (or I don't already have it), that you're going to have to wait until a bit after I get my next paycheck to get your review :P

Just picked up Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within for $1. I haven't watched it yet. Is it any good?
