Well, in a nutshell:

Cheap, reliable, RWD sports car with sublime handling and feel, as well as a giant performance aftermarket. No it's not fast in a straight line, but I don't care about that. I like cornering ability. They absolutely dominate autox racing, which is what I'm interested in.

Have you driven one in autox or on a twisty mountain road?

Seeing my Father drive my Sister's Miata was one of the silliest things I've ever seen, GREEN LANTERN included. I love the car, but my Father resembles Phil Jackson (and has been mistaken for him), so with the top down he was eye level with the top of the windshield. Watching him get in and out of a Miata is also a hoot.

Imagining that does put a silly grin on my face.

I'm on the upper end of people who can fit in one. It fits me like a glove, but any bigger and I'd probably feel cramped. As it is, my hair will barely brush the top if I kind of stretch my neck up. The hard top will afford an extra 2 inches of head room or so.

Go do that, then get back to me.

Also, it's currently 7 degrees here. For those of you complaining about it being warm, I'd be glad to trade you.
I am with Stark, I wouldnt fit in one. I am more into the muscle car performance. I like having the acceleration off the line and mine can still perform in the curves.

Eh. Some people wont get it. Some people will. I just never had as much fun driving Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs as much as I did in the Miata.

It was love at first drive. Which is a bit funny, since when I was looking at cars, I pretty well tried to avoid them, and was pretty set on a Mustang, BMW 3 series, or Integra GSR. :P

To be fair, I also don't have any mountains to cruise around in.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

I'm almost positive my focus S2 and your Miata share the same engine and frame (if not more). "Silver" is a blast to drive.

You have your group of guys who love cars that drive like toys/RC Pro-am, your guys who love cars that are all torque/Out-Run, and then guys who love cars that are ridiculously tricked out/Midnight.

Same with motorcycles.

For me, if it has wheels and can reach a speed of 80mph without getting a ticket on the highway, I love all of 'em.

Very nice!

I really want one of those. My mitsubishi monitor is pretty decent, but the more I have it the more its quirks are starting to really drive me nuts. Convergence issues on s-video, pincushion. Blech.

Nice PVM!

@Luke The Miata is one of the few Mazda cars that didn't share parts with Ford actually. Might share the platform with the Protege though.
