I don't really collect for cart-based systems. Though I guess I have started picking up NGPC games -- but again, complete only. We do have a 2600, a Colecovision, and Genesis, etc and my wife is getting a NES in the house. But I don't actively collect for any of those, so most of the games for those systems are my wife's and she's not as picky about CIB as I am.BoneSnapDeez wrote:............ do you collect NES games? They bought it online and returned it to the store, thats usually the case.flojocabron wrote:
Afterwards I went to target and I found Kingdom Hearts 3Ds Dream Drop Distance for $10.00 Clearance. I guess it was clearance, it had the red sticker. But the sticker said "online item" So I guess it was an customer item that got cancelled? Or something that shouldn't be at the store and got tagged clearance? Oh well, a 3ds game for 10 bucks is sweet.

As far as disk based games, under no circumstances will I buy any loose disks. If it's something I have been clamoring for, I may go disk/case only and try my luck with the manual later.noiseredux wrote:I don't really collect for cart-based systems. Like most people, I started "collecting" for cart based systems just to have the game. Over the years I have become more of a completionist snob and bought more games complete than cart only games. I now try to find manuals and boxes to complete the games I already have more that looking to buy new complete games. With the wonders of smart phones, when I come across loose carts or even disk games missing the manual I do a quick search to see if I can find a box/manual for cheap to complete the game right there on the spot. I think it's part of a worsening OCD thing I have with game collection. Just a few years ago I didn't give a crap about manuals or boxed games. They were nice but not necessary.
Hit the thrift stores this morning. Not much to brag about.
Hot Shots Golf 3 (PS2)- $6 factory sealed
Test Drive 6 (Dreamcast)- $1 complete
3rd party PS2 Multitap- $4
Earlier in the week I found:
Spy Vs Spy (Xbox) for $5 complete
The Incredible Hulk (Xbox)-$2 complete
Ms Pac-Man Maze Madness (PS1)- $5 complete
Road Runner & Baseball (NES)- $8 loose carts
Oregon Trail: 5th Edition (PC)-$1
Online Auctions (bought over a month ago but just received)
Punisher & Tetris (NES)- $28.33 complete (very good condition)
Adventure Island II (peeling label), Mega Man 2&3, & Dig Dug II (NES)- $46 loose carts
The only thing I was really excited about this week is finding Spy Vs Spy. I've been wanting that for a while but not enough to pay $20+ on eBay. I'm also happy to finally have my 1st NES Mega Man games. I don't know how I went this long without having at least one in my collection. Then there's Oregon Trail. SCORE! Who (over the age of 30) didn't play that game in school? For a buck, that made my day.
"Oh great, another box of useless sh*t."

Spent $40 total for the following. Excited to own Shadowrun CIB and also excited to finally have a copy of Killer Instinct for myself.

I don't know how you did that either.noiseredux wrote:I'm also happy to finally have my 1st NES Mega Man games. I don't know how I went this long without having at least one in my collection.
Off topic a little since you love CIB.
Out of all my boxes my Mega Man 1 box and manual was all that survived my childhood somehow, it must have got lost in the shuffle then I found it still NM some how a few years back (I have not been that happy to find something from my childhood ever).

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
To clarify, I only care about disc-based games (i.e., GC, PS1, PS2, SAT, WII, and XBOX games) being complete. While I insist that all of my 3DS, DS, GEN, and SMS games have their original cases, I will only purchase cart-only 2600, GBC, GBA, NES, and SNES games. (Seriously, I will turn down complete copies of 2600, GBC, GBA, NES, and SNES games because they don't fit with my collection, and I feel bad breaking them up.) I guess that I am just weird that way.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I used to be like Hobie...now I am like Noise. At some point I am simply going to unload all of my disc only/incomplete games on the B/S/T forum regardless of whether I have played through them...noiseredux wrote:hey good for you man. You deserve it for your patience though. I'm not like that. Too neurotic. I can't buy pieces of a game and make it complete later. Too OCD. I hate even having an incomplete game in my collection. Anyway...I had a big 2600 find today. I stopped by a local pawn shop from which I had recently purchased several 2600 games. Apparently, my purchases inspired them to place the rest of their Atari inventory on the showroom floor, and when I asked to look at all of the "new" games, the manager asked if I was a re-seller. I informed her that Iwas adding all of the games to my personal collection, and when I asked how much they wanted for the unpriced games she said, "For you, $1." I was very pleased with the price and picked up:
Adventures of Tron (2600) - $1
Atlantis (2600) - $1
California Games (2600) - $1
Donkey Kong Junior (2600) - $1
Laser Gates (2600) - $1
Pengo (2600) - $1
Riddle of the Sphinx (2600) - $1
River Raid II (2600) - $1
Slot Racers (2600) - $1
Tax Avoiders (2600) - $1
Unbeknownst to me at the time - and according to videogameprice charts - Laser Gates ($10.49), Pengo ($37.77), River Raid II ($17.99), and Tax Avoiders ($8.51) all have some value. I am just happy to add them to my collection, however.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
So my parents were cleaning out the garage of my grandparents house since they're trying to sell the house and they find a box of Nintendo stuff in the attic. They call me and ask if I want it and of course I tell them they didn't even have to ask. Apparently a cousin of mine was storing the stuff there and doesn't want it. It pays being the only person in your family who's in to retro games.
Games (+Mach Rider which was in the console and I didn't realize it at the time I took this), console and peripherals:
A few manuals:
Also unrelated and not nearly as free, I've just started getting into Super Famicom stuff and my first games have arrived.

Nice freebies. What's between BTTF and DD?
Nice choice on the Scrambled Valkyrie too.
