Hey, I just realized something ... if your TV and Audio receiver support HDMI CEC .. you probably can use the gamepad to control it's volume. (Though it requires an audio receiver with HDMI return, I believe)

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I finally got around to snagging one over the weekend (I was already running errands) and now I'm just waiting for my HDMI switch to arrive to have it as a full-time part of my setup. I got the bigass update installed already. Not sure when I'm actually going to play it, though, as I'm not chomping at the bit to play a Mario game and that's the only thing that's interested me so far.

I'm not sure if you're a survival horror fan at all or not, but I played some ZombiU the other day and it is fantastic. And currently it is $44.99 at Best Buy.

I'm extremely sick of zombies, so I'm not interested in ZombiU in any way. I'm aware of all the WiiU games out there, but so far only Mario has interested me, and that's more of a "It'll be good, but not a omg must play".

Yeah totally hear that, but I liked what I played felt pretty fresh. I'm in the same boat as you though other than that. I mean if I had Mario I'd play it. Also looking forward to Rayman Legends, which isn't out yet.

Zombies or not, it's worth playing based on it being one of the best Survival Horror games in the last ten years. It's worth giving it a chance.

If you are into kart racers at all, Sonic ASRT is pretty damn awesome! It has a ton of nostalgia built in with saturn and dreamcast references galore, unlockables, and interesting tracks. And at a low price of $40 new, it's the best bargin for the Wii U right now.
p.s. to the people recommending or considering ZombieU... I think it will be one of those games that will be $10 used in the not to distant future just like Red Steel was for the Wii. It sold well but doesn't have the good reviews or lasting gameplay behind it. So it's probably not worth the current price of admission.
