James was at MAGfest this past weekend... could it have happened in a few short days and he wasn't even aware of it?
I exchanged a few words with him over the weekend, he was a nice guy. Despite my usual disdain for "lol video games" youtube videos, I actually enjoy some of the AVGN stuff.
If what I think happened (a few trolls flooding the channel and flagging everything) there wouldn't be a warning at all. Youtube's report system is really broken :| .

Yeah, like his videos or sense of humor or not, the guy is clearly knowledgeable and has a passion for what he does.

Also, for those wondering, his videos are still up on his website. http://cinemassacre.com

You, sir, are bad at math and increasingly demonstrating you don't understand this forum's culture.

Racketboy forums: Total posts 684,618

Use of "fanboy":
Search term used: fanboy
Search found 1014 matches

Search term used: fanboys
Search found 612 matches

So, the word is used in .236% of all posts. A far cry from 50%
I have since edited my original post so that the topic can get back on track! Should you find anything in it that is not to your liking or offensive to any demographic, please let me know and I'd be happy to fix it!

Seriously, I'm not a regular, most of the other forums I'm on are more heated, if that language doesn't slide here, fine, whatever.

I'll never understand why video game companies attack fan videos, I guess they must hate free advertising.

Agreed! While not strictly about AVGN's problem here, I have to say I feel the same way about movie trailers being taken down. A trailer for movie X leaks and is put on youtube, and then it's deleted.

Hey Movie Company? How's about you let the trailer stand and, oh, I dont know... DRUM UP HYPE for your movie so you can get more people interested in watching it? The more people interested in your movie, the higher number of butts will be in the theater paying for it.

It's regoddammeddiculous.

They simply don't like not having total control over their product's marketing. It's dumb, I know.

Before jumping to conclusions, are we sure James didn't pull his own videos?

And if not, who cares? Privacy rights are a tangled web but people need permission to use others work. Plus if James didn't pull his videos, he probably received a cease and desist letter that is frame worthy.

I wouldn't be surprised if cinnemassacre's traffic plummeted since James started working on his movie and stopped posting reviews, so he needed to bring that traffic back to keep up with ad revenue. I mean, no ones checking his site to see his pal play with action figures.

Uh, first the account flat out says it was banned, so he didn't pull his own videos.

Secondly, those videos are still up on the other streaming sites he uses (springboard, GT, whatever) so he definitely didn't pull his own videos. If it was a C&D, he would've pulled those down too.

Thirdly, he's still posting reviews and all kinds of other stuff. It's not like his output has halted for the past two years or whatever.

So yeah, there's pretty much zero reason to think this is some kind of conspiracy to drive up views on his site. I think you're the one jumping to conclusions here.

Youtube's account pulling system is automated. It's not hard to find crazy stories of stuff happening because of that. WWE once had a video they uploaded taken down due to a copyright claim from the WWE for crying out loud.

Was his channel taken down for copyright infringement or for the constant bad language?

Either way, it's a crock of crap. When he was putting out regular videos and making YouTube money, they didn't seem to mind. Now that he's slowed down on video output (due to making the AVGN movie), then they want to pull this? Pffft.

I honestly don't think Youtube has much to do with it either. At least, I don't think any human beings at Youtube were involved in the decision to pull his account.

Dude, I was just asking if it was a possibility that James pulled it himself.

Either way, I don't get the uproar. His videos are still up, why whine that they were pulled from youtube? It is a business after all. The guys complaining that they have to go to the cinnemassacre site sound a bit entitled.
