So awesome. It's like the acid-dropping Japanese lovechild of Scooby-Doo and Suspiria.

Good, but it kinda drags in some parts. But the ending, while a total downer, was worth the journey.
Hausu is awesome. I also love the character names, they are so practical! (Blanche, Melody, Mac, Gorgeous, Prof, etc.).

I'm checking out Goke, I remember hearing about it a while ago.

After Ronin, RG seemed weak indeed.. but sitting down with the director's cut it's not actually a terrible flick.

Don't kid yourself.

THE ARTIST

I love this movie. A lot. Not only do I love this movie, I love watching people watch this movie.

People become engaged in THE ARTIST in minutes. Faces light up, eyes widen, smiles become broader, and most importantly no one stops staring at the screen. THE ARTIST is one of those rare and magnificent pieces of art that installs a sense of wonderment, no matter your age.

Or maybe it's just me (and everyone I've watched the movie with). Maybe the movie reminds me of a simpler but more classier time. A time where men wore suits both to the theater and to the ballpark. These days the only one wearing a tie at a sporting event is the coach, and the only one wearing a tie at the theater is the manager. Maybe the movie reminds me of a time where talent was more important than popularity. These days showing your goods is more important than delivering the goods. Maybe the movie reminds me of a time when it wasn't all about who you knew, but about what you could do. These days getting a DUI will get you more press than an official movie press release. Maybe the movie reminds me of a time where no one would accept "okay". These days we're more obsessed on a ton of "okay" over one "terrific".

Too many "maybes" that really aren't "maybes". Michel Hazanavicius said "screw you all, I'm going to make a
mostly
silent movie, and it's going to be a better film than any Summer blockbuster" and did exactly that*.

Film critics won't be arguing if this was the best films of 2011, they'll be arguing for years if it was the best film of the decade.

*I doubt he said that.

I went and saw The Hobbit today. Can't say I hated it, it was a good movie in it's own right. Any Tolkien or fantasy fans should go see it. Great production values and budget, and a lot of Middle-Earth lore packed into it.

But at the same time, I can't say that I loved it either. It was just too silly at times. It seemed as if the movie never took itself seriously, which really bothered me. I mean, this wasn't some low-budget production where that sort of thing belongs, nor was it supposed to be a comedy. A little humor here or there is a good thing, but it was just too much here.

I hope the sequel is little more serious, since it looks like it's gonna deal with Smaug.

Liked it, and can't wait for the sequel.
I just watched it too. And I thought it was pretty awful with its usual "let's special effect kung fu zombies!"

That is, until they gave me a zombified Red Army. That made the whole series worth it.

Well, remember - Bilbo 'wrote' the Hobbit. Bilbo represents innocence, and happy-go-lucky-ness, so of course the story/movie/book were more 'merry' and 'fun' than the Lord of the Rings books/movies, as they are told by Frodo, who is a drama queen.

I watched it tonite as well. It was pretty decent I suppose. I still don't see 3 movies worth of material, but who knows.

Plus, the nature of the two quests are very different. The quest to take back the Lonely Mountain is important, but no where close to the scale of "defeat the enemy of all free men".

Ok, this film haves one of the best 3D presentations and visual effects I've ever seen. Too bad you have to tolerate almost 2 hours of filler and shitty acting to get there (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in particular is lousy and look... I know Megan Fox isn't Meryl Streep but at least she feels natural. At one point I think Michael Bay realized how shitty her acting was and instead of pointing the camera to her face, he chose to point it at her butt and legs for a good chunk of the movie. And in 3D none the less  ). I can't say I liked it but after how awful part 2 was ANYTHING is an improvement.

NOTE: I haven't seen the show or played War or Fall For Cybertron so I can't say I know the source material that much.

Anyways, is anyone planning on watching Texas Chainsaw 3D?
