Gonna have to agree with this. Might be why I haven't given my DC much attention, lol.Menegrothx wrote:I agree that Dreamcast is one of the coolest game consoles but the controller+memory cards just aren't all that great.

I love the VMUs. It's really nothing more than a gimmick, I know, but it's one of the coolest gimmicks in gaming.Xeogred wrote:Gonna have to agree with this. Guess I should specify, I love the memory cards myself actually, but that controller... I know I know, I hate to be that guy, but yeah the DC controller is probably by far one of my least favorites.BurningDoom wrote:I love the VMUs. I am not gonna argue with you. I found the controller to be a bit of a pain. The triggers were great, do not get me wrong. But I did feel that the D-pad was subpar and the way the controller fit the form of your hand, much like with the Saturn's thumbstick controller, was just not comfortable...of course who am I to judge...I preferred the hamburger pad for the original Xbox.

The answer is always Saturn ALWAYS
Re: Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
If the controller causes you to feel physical pain, I think at that point it's fair to call it poor design. That fucking thing would have my thumb raw (dpad) after sessions with 2D fighters or shmups. Even when playing RPGs the DC controller is just awkward. A stick is pretty much required if you're gonna use it a lot for arcade games.

Not 100% sure but the N64 is at least in the top of my favorite consoles besides of the good looking shape i like how nintendo can make more with less, yeah the system is more powerfull than ps1 and saturn but used cartridges 64 mb vs 700 mb on the other consoles and still someone manage to put the WHOLE data of resident evil 2 in one small gray cartrigde.
Also the turbo-duo could make into my list just for the fact that konami made this game on a "less powerfull console"

That game will make me buy the system one day, then the shmups will be a bonus. Just gotta save about $300 for the system and game.
Re: Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
It's also incredibly easy to service, once you get a screwdriver for the "gamebits" that Nintendo loves to have on their systems. All regular screws inside. Had to replace the system board and it was easy to do.AppleQueso wrote:I think the Gamecube manages to seamlessly balance the look of sophisticated tech with a focus of simply having fun.
