Re: Your Favorite Console...in Terms of Hardware Only
For me it would have to be the Sega Saturn. the controller alone makes it worthy of my nomination, thanks to the best D-Pad ever. That thing was so comfortable to your hands it was insane. Add to it on-line gaming for games like Saturn Bomberman and it really merits sheer awesome. My only gripe to the system is the cartridge slot. That thing has given me so many headaches in my time.
Another great choice would be the original Gameboy. Those things never die and are one of the most reliable handhelds ever...Need I show the picture of the war torn DS that was at the Nintendo HQ

I've still got my old brick from when I was little. The battery cover is long gone and the springs that hold the batteries in are missing now, but I remember rigging it up one day with some batteries and it still turned on and played just fine.
Thinking back, it actually has to have been one of the first gaming devices I ever owned.

I'll have to think about it, but these came to mind for me for some reason. While I've always been a bigger Nintendo fan growing up... the toaster, the boxy SNES, the awkwardly shaped N64, and the purple cube... yeah, I like Sega's console designs way more in comparison and you can never go wrong with black (I wonder how good a black DC would look?), not to mention they avoid the coloring issues over the years.o.pwuaioc wrote:PS2 slim and Genesis model 2 are up there as well. I think it'd be easier to point out the flaws in consoles.

I have now, and yep that looks amazing. I'm gonna have to learn how to paint consoles someday because I hate my yellow DC and sadly my modded Japanese Saturn is pretty brown as well. My first SNES turned yellow pretty badly as well, this other one I took from my grandparents has kept its clean color for quite awhile though.

Yes! Despite its size, I really like the way the oXbox looks.BoringSupreez wrote:And dark green + black is the best color combo ever for a console.

I have to agree with this... One of the most comfortable handhelds I've ever used... I second the Sega Saturn as well.. Model 1..Valkyrie-Favor wrote:

Yes, hearing that EEEEEEEEEEE noise every time you start up the console is so great (or alternatively, spending insane amounts of cash for buying those small batteries). And having to stare at your controller, rather than the screen, while playing some games to find out how much health/ammo you have is so convenient.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Dreamcast!
A nice manageable size, four controller ports, best memory cards ever
I agree that Dreamcast is one of the coolest game consoles but the controller+memory cards just aren't all that great.
