Borderlands - Where should I start?

Post by TheyCallMeTheSwede »

The topic is sort of self explanatory. But I am planning trying the game out, should I play the first Borderlands? or skip right to the second game?

Both are excellent, but the second one improves everything and sucked me in far more than the first. I say try the first (cheaper) and if you like it finish it before 2. If you don't like it at all skip 2. If you like it a little bit but not enough to push on, go straight to 2.

You might ask Hobie, his hours logged in each is apocalyptical

I have to agree with DSH. Play through the first, preferably with atleast one other person, and if you like it move on to the second. The second is arguably a better game, but the first is awesome and should not be missed - especially with the expansions.

Indeed, grab the first and expansions and give it a whirl with some other people.

I jumped right into the second game and didn't feel like I was missing anything important storywise, and it eases you into the game nicely so you learn everything you need. Though truthfully, if you played a first person shooter in the past decade you don't even really need the tutorial stuff

I'm sure the first game is great though and worth playing.

If you happen to play the second one first, the first one becomes really hard to go back to because of the hundreds of improvements they made to the experience. The first one is an awesome game, play it and then marvel about how they perfected perfection the second time around.
