Probably will have to wait until tomorrow to watch it, but I agree that it looks nothing short of at least interesting. I loved Shaun of the Dead, especially the ending whereStark wrote: That movie does look entertaining! I just saw the trailer yesterday.

Fucking A! What a great film that holds up after all these years. A bona fide masterpiece with few peers in the genre.Ack wrote:
So I watched a classic yesterday. Screw all the remakes, the sequels, the updated sequels, the 3D sequels, the...hell, you get the idea. The original is still disturbing in its "what the fuck" kind of way, with Leatherface, his crazy brother, and their bizarre family hacking up people for food and fun and then using them for decorations, couches, lamps, chandeliers, or whatever else they like. Though admittedly, as twisted as it is, it's also not very gory.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Exactly. It's such a twisted film, yet it manages to pull it off without showing me bodies getting mutilated or focusing on its gore when something nasty happens. For instance, the chick on a meat hook? It focuses on her trying to hold herself up and the blood dripping into the bucket, but it doesn't actually show the hook going in. And the death spasms made for far more sickening sequences than seeing fake arms getting lobbed off as would happen in many of today's gorefests.dsheinem wrote:Fucking A! What was everyone's opinion of Django Unchained? I liked it as much, if not more than Inglorious Basterds. Probably my favorite movie of 2012. I can see why it drew criticism for gratuitous use of the n-word, but Tarantino has a good way of using such language to create grounds for social commentary. Foxx, Jackson, Waltz, and DiCaprio were nothing but amazing. Waltz made this movie for me; give him another academy award.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
It's great because it's bonkers, yet the events could actually take place. The first time my wife saw TCM it scared the hell out of her, and the next day her school cafeteria served bbq sandwiches. She didn't eat lunch that day.dsheinem wrote: Fucking A!
Great movie, but not enough Ricci and too much Jay Mohr.J T wrote:Every year on New Year's Eve I watch 200 Cigarettes.
Possibly in my top 20 movies 2012, but not in my top ten. For one, it is NOT a spaghetti western and when people call it one it makes me ball my fists.Blu wrote:What was everyone's opinion of Django Unchained?
Waltz is amazing, and everyone gives a great performance but the movie could have been edited down to two hours. Some scenes simply overstay their welcome. Like Basterds, I have no interest in seeing Unchained again which says a lot. With DOGS and FICTION I walked out of the theater wanting to run back in.
It's still a great movie, but not one of QT's best.

Berberian Sound Studio

It looks and sounds amazing but it's not that deep plot wise. It's worth watching though.
Ugh... the horror charnel is down, I seriously miss my Cinemageddon account

My wife and I watched Bernie (2011) last night. It was great, and it is now my favorite Richard Linklater film (beating out Dazed and Confused (1993)) and my favorite Jack Black film (beating out....well...looking at his filmography...I'll just say that he is amazing in the title role, and I would love to see him get an Oscar nod for his performance).

I don't really see what Luke is saying about some scenes overstaying their welcome; I felt everything was of appropriate pace, and stayed long enough to get the point. (In some cases, the point was to offend/aggravate you.)

A lead by Toby Jones? Awesome.. but this film was a bit more obscure than it should have. Queued for later viewing all the same.KillerJuan77 wrote:Berberian Sound Studio
