Each cartridge should have come with 2 broken Q-tips.
People used to like to say that inserting 3rd party carts would damage the slot but I'm not so sure of that any more. The only 3rd party carts I've used is some random region switcher (did nothing else) and a Game Shark which was LAME since games couldn't save data directly to the cart, they saved to the Saturn and you had to transfer them. Mega suck. Took it back. I have two official Sega backup memory carts that work great. Still have all my saves from when I was renting games back in '95 or so. When I finally pick up a game on eBay, I just continue from where I left off nearly 18 years ago!

I have a third-party ram cart that has a death-grip on the cartridge slot. I inserted it just to make sure it works, but when I tried to remove it I had to brace the Saturn against the table before I could yank it out. That was pretty scary. I could probably lift the whole console just by holding the cart.

That's pretty much it. At some point the game community overhyped Action Replay. Obviously there are far far less useful carts in terms of features, but still isn't quite the big deal it gets treated as.
I bought a new Action Replay cart, and guess what? It works! Thank goodness for that! I saw someone else post that they had to buy another one too, though, so I'm guessing this is a common problem?
I'm glad the Action Replays are still easy and inexpensive to get new because they sure do fail a lot. I've gone through about 4 of them over the years. I play a lot of Saturn imports, I should just mod my damn system or just get an japanese saturn..
I suggest getting the region-free bios mod done. I don't have to rely on the cartridge slot anymore. No more need to mess with switches or switchless mods. Just put the disc in and play.

You could by Japanese memory cards. They are about $10 each. Hell I have 4 of them now.
