It's not so bad. To sacrifice a cartridge you just have to ceremonially clean it once with Windex.J T wrote:DinnerX wrote:The great forum deities tell me this may happen, but only if we sacrifice a Gold Nintendo World Championship cartridge in a temple made of NeoGeos.Sadist! What a disgusting dispaly of unnecessary violence! I'm appalled!

Hobie-wan hasn't read your posts yet, but he just felt a painful spasm in the back of his neck wherever he is. Did the Romans blow on their cartridges? NO! And that's why they are better than you.

TB made a video as well.. Correlation not causation etc, perhaps it should be considered a form of addiction to get attached to virtual realities. China set a radical precedent but I'm certain it can be toned down for the average denizen.

Re: Why we kill (in games)
Interesting to see this topic while playing Hotline Miami, which has a story that seems to focus on violence and its meaning.
The thing I love about that game. It's got graphics that are somewhere between 8-bit and 16-bit, and yet presents violence in a way that feels more real and visceral and disturbing than most of the expensive, big budget games you see on PC today, or PS3 and Xbox for that matter
It's not about graphics, it's about presentation. The fact that every character in the game is as fragile as a real human being makes the violence have more impact. You swing a katana at someone, you're not taking points of a health bar. You're just slicing his head off and killing him before he even knows what's happening and leaving a bloody, decapitated corpse of what felt like a real person lying on the floor.

Wow such a shitstorm at Kotaku. Why do "gamers" think their opinions matter more? I'm baffled.. it's not an ideological or professional affiliation by any means.
