Damn, I think I'm gonna have to start looking into Turbo shmups.
EDIT: I'll start a Hi-Score thread for this if there's any takers.
I've played almost all of them and honestly they all pretty awesome on their own merits.
Heres a list for starters:
Aero Blasters
Air Zonk
Blazing Lazers
Cyber Core
Dead Moon
Deep Blue
Magical Chase
Ordyne
Psychosis
Raiden
R-Type
Side Arms
Sinistron
Soldier Blade
Somer Assualt-Hybrid Platformer/Shmup!
Tale Spin
Probably a few Im missing but solid shootemup system for sure!
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Eh, not sure what the best thread is for this post... Anyway, I was in a small videogame shop in Nagoya yesterday. It was some kind of shmup heaven. I was mostly looking at the Saturn and Dreamcast selection, but I spotted:
Saturn: Radiant Silvergun, Batsugun, Battle Garegga, DoDonPachi, Thunder Force V, Hyper Duel, Shienryu, Guardian Force, Sol Divide.
Dreamcast: Under Defeat, Border Down, Ikaruga, Zero Gunner 2
Sadly there were no huge bargains to be had, prices for the rarer stuff ranged from about 6,000 yen (about $70) for Ikaruga (which is the only one that I already owned) up to about 12,000 or 13,000 yen (about $140-$150) for Radiant Silvergun and Border Down.

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Strikers 1945 on the PS1. Which apparently is 1945 II? I need to figure out this series, because I'm loving it so far.
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Played a bunch of Castle of Shikigami III over my friend's last weekend. 2 player, as in a lot of shmups, is fun but impossible. His character's shot was too broad. So much so that I could not see myself if I was near him. Would be nice if they at least showed my character above his shot. Not underneath.
Otherwise, quite fun.

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
That is correct, the PS1 port is actually Strikers 1945 II. Reasoning is beyond me, but definitely find a way to play the first game too.o.pwuaioc wrote:Strikers 1945 on the PS1. Which apparently is 1945 II? I need to figure out this series, because I'm loving it so far.

Hellfire rocks although hard at times for me, I think I will put in my copy tonight. It has been awhile since I last played it so I may have to practice again. I do love how you have to plan what weapons to use in the different parts of the stages.Spyke wrote:And Hellfire on MD!
