But, Spearhead is before Breakthrough ...
I never finished Breakthrough, though. At the time Spearhead was my favorite one.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

Right you are. The order I got them in the MOH 10th anniversary collection case led me to believe Breakthrough was first. A few days ago, I see that it was Spearhead that was the first one, I'll just be playing them backwardsCronozilla wrote:But, Spearhead is before Breakthrough ...

Spearhead was better than Breakthrough overall. Less interesting settings, but the level design was superior.

Ok, so I'm starting on the original Rainbow Six (Dreamcast) I got off the B/S/T forums here. I've played RS3 on the GameCube, and this is MUCH different. It lets you work every aspect of the mission, from clothing and weapons, to even splitting your team into 4 groups and assigning them orders even before the mission begins. Definitely a bit to get used to, but I already completed the first mission, somehow. Also a lot less forgiving with getting hit, and dead team members are lost permanently. Damn. I think this will be an exercise in frustration-yet-fun. Gotta love those blocky character models too.
I'll also be doing Unreal Tournament and Quake III Arena once I get my DC mouse in.

Playing Halo: Combat Evolved. I haven't played this game in years.
My first two thoughts are 1) the human assault rifle sucks and 2) is it just me or is the handgun one of the best weapons in the game?? It is really powerful.

That was a source of arguments and debates among Halo fans for years. Some say it was overpowered and unbalanced the game, while others loved Halo CE over the sequels just because of that one gun.Opa Opa wrote:Playing Halo: Combat Evolved. I haven't played this game in years.

I'd say Halo CE is a pretty balanced game. With or without the handgun.BoringSupreez wrote:That was a source of arguments and debates among Halo fans for years. Some say it was overpowered and unbalanced the game, while others loved Halo CE over the sequels just because of that one gun.
The handgun is pretty boss though. About five shots will take out a shield and then you can quickly swap to another gun to take a person out... Ah memories of multiplayer...
Okay, maybe it is a little overpowered.
IIRC, they made the handgun in Halo 2 useless unless you dual-wielded them.

Ha! Balanced. That stupid pistol ruined multiplayer. Just a bunch of people sniping eachother from halfway across the map with it (a headshot and a single following body shot spelled death).
Still, Halo CE is responsible for me getting into PC gaming as much as I did when I was younger. So I love the game to death.

Yep. And that's a big part of what fueled said argument. Personally, I preferred the pistol in its Halo CE form, but it was never my favorite weapon anyway so I never got into it with other fans. I was far more upset with what Halo 2 did to the assault rifle than the pistol TBQH.Opa Opa wrote:IIRC, they made the handgun in Halo 2 useless unless you dual-wielded them.
Ironically, the PC version of Halo CE is what pushed me to get an oXbox. At the time, an Xbox could run Halo a lot better than my PC could, plus Halo 2 was still exclusive back then and I was itching to continue the story.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Still, Halo CE is responsible for me getting into PC gaming as much as I did when I was younger. What did they do to the assault rifle in 2? I really don't remember... I wanna say they made it 3 round burst?
@ryan- I mostly played the close-quarters maps. The handgun sniping didn't really bother me all that much.
But those open maps. Dang. Sniper rifles/handguns. It's coming back to me now
