Apologies to Mike - mjmjr25 - joke backfire in trade feedbac

Post by Hobie-wan »

So apparently I causes a kerfluffle over my feedback post for Mike here (pre edit). Yes I said kerfluffle.

So anyway I picked up a Pocky & Rocky SNES box, 8 SNES dust covers, and a cart only NES Wizards and Warriors. They arrived packed safely as always from Mike. The box was flattened between cardboard and a few unused padded envelopes and he tossed in a free sleeve for the NES cart. I gave him a positive feedback and made some bad jokes. I usually make bad jokes. You guys should expect them from me. Apparently Mike and some others thought I was complaining about the transaction and Mike sent me a message last night that said just said "Refunded". I figured he was joking back and carried on with my evening. Well morning. I saw it when I got home after 3 AM.

Them Mike PMd me concerned about it this morning again and said others had pinged him misinterpreting it as backhanded as well. I know I make really terrible jokes from time to time, but really guys. Complaining about some nice clean envelopes I can use later? "Smooth Transaction" versus talking about how rough the sleeve was? Talking about shredding a Pocky & Rocky box? I figured that was enough to set off the alarms without any blue text, especially given that it was a +1. :P

And just to show what I'm talking about with the NES sleeve, here it is compared with that most of my sleeves look like. I do have another with a weird squarish texture, but it's got nothing on the mountains as valleys on the one Mike sent. I just found it amusing.

Lol, weird thread but given how insanely well respected you both are on the B/S/T forum, I can understand the need for it.

Also: Wizards and Warriors? C'mon, man. Legacy of the Wizard is where it's at.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I really hope you are serious. I actually quite like Wizards and Warriors but Legacy of the Wizard is one of my favorite NES games. Are you really a LotW lover?

It occupies this really weird spot in my heart. I have never finished it or even invested a whole lot of time in it. I can never figure out what I'm supposed to do with that game but I at least once a year I pull that game out and have a blast goofing around.

Legacy of the Wizard is weird like that, right? I devoted quite a long time to trying to figure that game out back in the 80s/90s. I really liked it, but never could complete the game. I should try it again. It had a weird vibe. I haven't played it since then.

Wizards and Warriors is a good game. That's all.

So I have learned two things from this thread.

1. Legacy of the Wizard for the NES is great and by opinion is considered better than Wizards and Warriors which is also a good game
2. Hobie-wan needs to put his jokes in a certain color

I've seen a very heavily textured NES sleeve. It was very distinctive. I figured it was from a third party. I didn't like how it felt, so I gave it away with a game I sold.

In all fairness; that sleeve is really rough.
