^ I'd love to read your opinion on the third film. It's my absolute favorite of the bunch.

NOES 2 is nothing but pure cheesiness, even the scenes that don't have Freddy. Remember the baseball beaning the kid in the head? Hilarious! Yeah, I don't think anyone took that entry in the series serious.
Can't believe you think the first film is goofy, though. A horror classic, IMO. Guess I can't really see it from your point-of-view, though. I didn't watch it for the first time in 2012, I watched it for the first time back in the 80s as a little kid and scared the piss out of me.
A bit of advice, stay far, far away from NOES 5. It's just plain weird, and not in a good way. Easily the worst of the bunch.
Nintendork, good tastes in Freddy movies. I'd say the first one was my favorite, but NOES 3 was a close 2nd. And it makes sense I would like it since it was a direct sequel to the first film.

Yeah, I can imagine it probably would have scared me as a child. Cujo scared me, Alien (the TV version, no lesss) scared me shitless as did An American Werewolf in London, and I never knew AAWWIL was a comedy until I saw it years - YEARS - later.
So yeah, being 35 and watching the original Elm Street would definitely affect my view of it.

If I was still in college and needed to create a new drinking game*, it would involve the movie THUNDERSTRUCK (2012). This is the best awfully awesome movie of 2012 and I've watched it twice in a span of a few days. This is a movie that features Durant's Mother in a cheer leading outfit with such quips such as "Don't get it twisted!". A movie that features a song called "Brand new shoes!". No bad movie or 80's sitcom cliche' is left untouched.
I understand why Kevin Durant agreed to the movie; he was offered a starring role in a movie. If you're already rich and someone offers you a lump sum to read a few lines, take it. I don't understand why others agreed to be a part of this.
Jim Belushi for some reason beyond my comprehension has a pretty big fan base and a syndicated sitcom. He should have passed on this. And the cameos. Yeesh. There are some real head scratchers.
But it certainly provides the belly laughs of awfulness.
*By no means do I support excessive drinking:
THUNDERSTRUCK/THUNDERDRUNK
Drink every time:
Anyone or crowd shouts: "Oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Anytime it reminds you of TEEN WOLF
Anytime you get creeped out that a lot of men in their twenties are hitting on an actress in her teenage years
When what you think is about to happen, actually happens (this one may cause liver disease)
Anytime Jim Belushi sounds wasted
Product placements!
Anytime an extra looks directly into the camera

1990: The Bronx Warriors.
Good but it starts off pretty slow. It has its moments.
It's available on its own or as part of Shriek Shows' "Post Apocalyptic Triple Feature" box set, in spite of the fact that it's technically NOT set in a post-apocalyptic world, though The Bronx is depicted as a ravaged urban wasteland, as opposed to the towering metropolis that is Manhattan.
There's also a sequel, Escape from the Bronx (aka Escape 2000 and Bronx Warriors 2 (in UK only)). It was never officially released in the US, but a region-free NTSC DVD is out by Australia-based Stomp Entertainment.

PART 3: The Vampire
I've already seen Parts 1 and 2, and I've seen bits of Part 3 years and years ago on Encore Action (which I assume was between 2000 and 2002-03).
Loved it, but like the other parts is too short (each one's only about 45 minutes long).

Liked it. Own it as part of a box set that also includes the MD Geist duology, Genocyber, and two soundtracks (one for MD Geist and another for the first part of Genocyber).
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

Some might be quick to dismiss it as a Death Wish ripoff, but way more deaths in the first 20 minutes. Plus, a gritty New York City circa 1980!

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I finally saw Dark Knight Rises. I enjoyed it, it is another good Batman movie as we've come to expect from Nolan. It wasn't as good as I had hoped though. I think the last Batman movie with Heath Ledger was better, and I also think The Avengers was a better and more entertaining comic book movie. That's heavy praise, but if anyone can make a better comic book movie than Nolan, it would be Joss Whedon
Anyway, I said a lot about it with spoilers galore in this thread:
