NES Zapper not working!

Post by someone3760 »

My zapper is not working right. Im playing on a CRT TV, and I tried both an original NES and a NES clone. The game made the zapper shot noise but would not recognize a hit. Do I just have a bad aim, or why is it not working? Thanks!

did the zapper worked successful with that same TV before or is this your first time trying it? some CRT TV (newer models) have troubles reading light gun controllers. they detect them, but the aim is off..

you should list the model of your CRT TV to get a better idea.

Do you have it in port 2? Games only look in port 2 for it. Also even if it is a CRT, if it is ED/HD it might not work.

I have the zapper in slot 2. Would taking apart the zapper and tightening the screws inside fix it? Thanks!

Is the screen flashing at least when you pull the trigger in game?

Did you read that people said about your TV? What kind of TV are you using? Light guns do not work on newer CRTs even. It is probably your TV; not the Zapper.

The TV is a Panasonic model CT-20G63, manufactured in July 2001. Im sure its a CRT TV, though. The screen is not flat in any way and it makes that slight buzzing sound.

Did you mean CT-20G3? If so looks like a basic older TV. Unless the 'eye' inside or the lens that should be in the end of the barrel has rattled loose, then poking inside probably won't help. Can you try your system and zapper on another CRT?

Do you have another tube tv to test it out?

I remember NES guns being so plentiful back in the day.

But lately it has been kinda hard to get one.

There is a very slight difference in accuracy for curved or flat CRT tvs.

But the nes is simple so that doesnt affect it.

I guess it really depends on your tv.

heres an informative vid on how it works: http://youtu.be/c3tBk-LYyzo

Try to use your gun on another TV or see if you can get another gun.
