What Are the 10 Most Important Items Needed In An Emergency?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Where do you work that they think this is an important thing to spend time on?

Anything that is included in a list is an item. That's the actual definition of an item, so yes, they are items.

Valid question. Not sure what there is to gain from this exercise.

One of these things is not like the other one.....
You're right. A knight should been the first thing you need in any emergency, especially if you are stranded in a northern forest. It should not have been grouped with an axe and hatchet like that! Clearly it is its own item.

Would an axe-wielding knight be an acceptable combination? You'd save space!

Dunno, guessing emergency services, or an outfitter like REI? :P

My list:

1) Shelter (tent + sleeping bag or space blanket [depends if I need to bunker down or be on the move])
2) Water (either a filtered water bottle, or a clean source of water [condoms make awesome water bottle if placed in a bathtub. Pull a gallon of water in one, tie it up and leave it in the bathtub)
3) Food (Carbs, need tons of non-perishabe carbs. Saltines, ramen noodles, something)
4) Tools (I like Luke's answer for the swiss knife with a flint, but I would also add a lighter, rope and an axe)
5) Communications (Radio, cell phone, GPS)
6) Power (Hand cranked stuff FTW - Hand cranked radio, rechargable battery and dynamo flashlight)
7) Durable clothing (Gloves, snowboarding jacket, boots)
8) Protection (Condoms... :P I mean, firearms, knifes, bow & arrow)
9) Fuel (Wood to burn for warmth)
10) Luggage (A backpack to carry stuff in)

That's assuming you are talking about priorities. If we mean items, I would go with:

1) Hiking backpack
2) Swiss knife with a steel flint
3) Dynamo flashlight
4) Rope/Climbing cord
5) Filtered water bottle
6) Hatchet
7) Hiking boots
8) Snowboarding jacket (w/ hood, very important)
9) Hunting crossbow
10) Eyeglasses (can't rely on contacts forever  )
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
