I have the Ipad and the lack of an SD slot hasn't been an issue. I transfer data just fine with Dropbox/box/Google Drive.fastbilly1 wrote: My main issue with the nexus 7 is no SD card slot. I know you can use an OTG cable and transfer data that way - which is ok, but no SD card slot is problematic for me.

Re: Thinking about buying a droid tablet...
Ordered the 16gb Nexus yesterday morning! I usually have pretty bad gadget lust no matter what I buy, but I'm really excited for this. For now..........patience.
This bugs me too. I think the 16gb will probably be more than enough for myself but it sure would have been nice to have saved $50 by getting the 8gb and using one of the many micro sd cards I have around the house. I bet it would cost google/asus a nickel or less to add one in.fastbilly1 wrote:My main issue with the nexus 7 is no SD card slot. I didnt think about using dropbox that way. Good idea gtmtnbiker. The lack of videoout is kinda fixed with WiFi Media, but other than that it is perfect.gtmtnbiker wrote:I have the Ipad and the lack of an SD slot hasn't been an issue. The lack of SD is the absolute ONLY downfall of the Nexus 7. Never let that scare you away, it is an amazing device and I can't wait until I can buy one.fastbilly1 wrote:My main issue with the nexus 7 is no SD card slot. I'm a member of xda-developers (very active one at that) and everyone else there will agree with me. Go for the Nexus 7, it's amazing and cheap as dirt
Good choice! It's an amazing tablet and I hope you enjoy itmrDude wrote:Ordered the 16gb Nexus yesterday morning! I usually have pretty bad gadget lust no matter what I buy, but I'm really excited for this. For now..........patience.

Google's main concern now is moving users' data onto their cloud infrastructure, which is why they omitted the SD slot. Same with Amazon. Tablet manufacturers who don't offer cloud data services couldn't care less. Shame that with the downfall of HTC it will become an increasingly smaller space for real competition.

Hey MrDude, how are you liking the Nexus 7? I'm really interested in getting one. I have a windows phone so access to all those games and apps would be really fun I think.mrDude wrote:Ordered the 16gb Nexus yesterday morning! I've heard that for the most part, you're probably gonna be better off with a Nexus instead of a Kindle.
As for myself, I have something called a JXD S5110. It's a cheap, Chinese tablet built into a PSP-esque case, with buttons that most games can utilize, though some don't. It supports Google Play, which is awesome, though some games aren't compatible. And the apps that apparently are compatible don't seem to work right (a lot of the video-based apps, like YouTube and NetFlix, don't work, and CrunchyRoll could be better).
And like I said, it's got controls on it, but some games can't utilize them. Sonic CD can, but when I tried Sonic 4 Episode 1, I could move with the Dpad and analog stick (couldn't map controls), but had to rely on the virtual button to jump and it didn't work in tandem with the physical controls. When I try to play Super Puzzle Platform with this one SWF player, the Dpad worked in the place of the arrow keys and I just placed a virtual button to act as the Z key to shoot, though it's pretty slow.
It came with a bunch of built-in emulators that work pretty well for the most part. The N64 emulator was slow and glitchy. Some ROMs won't work right with certain emulators.
And it even came with free versions of Fruit Ninja, Sentinel 3, and Angry Birds Rio (to name a few) and they were all in English.
Despite its flaws, it gets more attention than all my other devices, including my 3DS which I had for a few months.
I also use it to keep up on my fave fansubbed toku and read eBooks (via the Kindle app) and comics on Comixology (they recently got the Kamen Rider manga, and a lot of the other works by its creator, including Kikaider and Skull Man).
But first chance I get I'm upgrading to a Nexus.

Thanks for all the detail on that android device Repo Man. I've been thinking about getting a cheap android tablet (or something like what you've got). I found that one you have for around $75. You think it's worth it?
Re: Thinking about buying a droid tablet...
Yes it does, and it looks way better than my S5110. Though much bigger and therefore less portable. But it could have a better chance of running more apps than mine. Perhaps compare it to the Nexus, though.Cronson wrote:http://www.jxd.hk/products.asp?id=627&s ... sid=009006
Ok, mother of god this looks sweet.
