Funny you mention Top Gun, as they're working on a sequel right now.

There have been some attempts to remake Porky's too, though that didn't really get anywhere.

Must-see for horror fans...

It's a must see for people who must see a guy that sees stuff, usually in a dark room with a projector.

I was completely underwhelmed with Sinister.

On the subject of Red Dawn, North Korea is the only country that's "ok" to use for invasion themes. Russia hasn't been the same since the fall of the Iron Curtain and no one's willing to risk pissing off China. North Korea is the only nation antagonistic enough and militaristic enough to even approach the realm of credibility.
