What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

I got what you meant. But still, I don't think I've ever seen a sign that didn't end with 'God Bless'. There are other sympathy phrases that might or might not be true that get used, but that one is a constant.
meters, shelters, and actual help programs
See that's much better than endangering yourself and others by weaving in and out of traffic at intersections and just being a burden on others.

Talk of bums and beggars always reminds me how it's better to give someone a hand-up than a hand-out.

I never give money to any one who asks me for it. I only give to those who look like they need it. IE, a guy walked around town for about two weeks pushing a shopping cart, and he had 6 dogs with him of various sizes. Stopped, gave him a bag of dog food and $75 cash. He smiled and hugged me, telling me how thankful he was.

I'm willing to be charitable, but I don't give to those who ask, only those who deserve.

In my mind of thinking, asking makes them undeserving of help. I go by how I act, which is to say, when I ask for help, I really am just being lazy.

What a sad, self-centered way of seeing the world.

The world is a shitty, shitty place. You can't trust anyone but family and the closest of friends, and even then, its still questionable at times. Money is the root of everything, and if you don't have enough, your life is destined to be shit. Wars are fought over money. People get killed for meager amounts of money. So why should I give money to someone because they asked? Especially considering how many fakers and lazy beggars are out there. I helped that man that day because he needed help, but didn't sit around lamenting and begging. He worked and tried for himself, collecting and selling cans, walking dogs, and washing cars. He helped people with their bags at Walmart daily, expecting nothing more than gratitude. That deserves to be rewarded. Sitting on the same corner for month after month and asking every passerby for money, and in Luke's case, being picky about the source of money, is shit.

Yeah...I am kind of like this too.

One time, I accidentally stabbed myself, and I was bleeding pretty bad. I thought of asking for help, but I thought, "You know what? I'm just being lazy." So, I kept my mouth shut and stood there bleeding. Eventually, I passed out. I woke up later in the hospital, and - believe it or not - the bleeding had stopped! Apparently, someone - my wife - found me lying on the kitchen floor bleeding to death and took me to the hospital. She was pretty upset that I didn't let her know how badly I was hurt - and that I spilled so much blood on our floor - but deep down, I think she appreciated the fact that I didn't ask her for help. I mean - let's face facts - that would have been a pretty lazy thing to do.

EDIT: Also, the world is an awesome place.

Thanks for reminding everyone of this. Using your logic, I should say that you should stop whining about your life to the people on this board, asking us for advice on how to fix your problems with [fill in the blank].

But I'm not actually going to do that because I know that sometimes when someone asks for help, advice, or assistance it's because they are prompted to do so by their needing that help in the first place.

Smile: Really liking this lady I am seeing right now. I have a feeling this relationship will either turn out to be awesome or an awesome disaster. Either way, this is going to be fun.

Frown: Had to open a non-paying buyer case against two people on eBay. Let the headache commence.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
