Mosty mom n pop shops as I'm blessed with these establishments in my area. Some moderate ebay, but the majority of my retro games really came from buying them when they were first released.

99.9% of my JPN collection was found in the wild at retro game shops and recycle shops in Japan. My U.S. region games are mostly bought online.

Thrift stores and local game shops for the most part. Gamestop has also been a pretty good source despite the hate it gets.

If we're talking about new games now, then it doesn't really matter. I'm not picky about what retailer I go to. I just look for the best deal for what I'm searching for.

I would say mine echoes a lot of what was already said here. Racket BST, yardsales and fleamarkets, and occasionally eBay. If I do go the eBay route it is typically from a link posted here (with a discount to RB members) or a seller offloading a huge amount of their collection at one time.

Where i live we have something similar to craiglist, so yeah i get like 90 or 80% of my stuff from there. Also some forums, and in a rare basis a friend or familiar that gives/sells me his old console... so far only one cousin has given me free a complete in box snes and some games, awesome.

So far i haven't bought anything from ebay, mostly because i don't have a credit card and paypal isn't supported in my country. But there's people that buy stuff for you and you pay a small fee, and after seeing some genesis lots for 10$ i'm seriously thinking on gettin one from ebay.

I'd love to say most of my collection was acquired at flea markets, garage sales, pawn shops, etc.
But South Africa is not exactly a haven for finding retro type gaming stuff in those places. If you happen to have a tremendous amount of patience, then just maybe you can score something every now and again. But that's definitely the exception and not the norm.

So most of my stuff has been gotten online. That's not to say that I've usually paid over the odds for what I want or that I haven't managed bargain type purchases. I have actually found many a great deal online, and surprisingly a fair amount on ebay as well.

Most of my collection (mainly Japanese imports) comes from online sources: Yahoo Japan Auctions and Rakuten, sometimes eBay. I also got lots of stuff from members of Racketboy, DigitPress and Famicom World forums.

There are also 2 great retrogaming shops in the area that I visit often (they sell everything from Atari 2600 to Xbox 360/PS3 games, plus the occasional Super Famicom, Saturn and PS1 imports) and 3-4 Cash Converters stores in the area that also sell games (mostly PS2 and original Xbox, and some GBA and DS games). I also sometimes go to Gamestop for the few new games I have reservations for.
