Retro Gaming in 3D

Post by Luke »

Were there any games that ever used the old standard blue and red 3D glasses? The sms had those funky 3D glasses, but anything for the ol' red and blue?

I think 3-D World Runner (NES) had a red/blue glasses mode.

That would make sense. Luckily I have it.

The Sega Master System had electrical 3D glasses that worked better than anagylph. They are expensive, though.

I also know that you can buy 3D graphics cards to run your games and I'm sure some oldish games are supported.

Sweet. I'll check on both and also Rad Racer II.

Over Halloween I picked up a Friday the 13th collection that came with 3D glasses so I figure I might as well put them to good use.

There is a plugin for the PSP custom firmware that renders games in Red-Blue stereoscopic 3D. I haven't tried it but read it's pretty effective for games like Jak & Daxter. I wonder if some of the retro compilation games would work? I expext the 3D remakes would...
