I haven't had a day off in two months. I'm thinking I should maybe get one put down for myself before my schedule is made through Christmas. But then again, the money.

Do you ever meet eyes with someone for a split second in a crowd, and just by looking at them and sensing they are looking at you, have a momentary understanding move between you? Not that you even know what you just learned, but the fact that something was seen?
I dunno. Just had this happen a bit lately.

Forlorn,
Yep.
I was going to add something else random, but damned if I didn't forget what it was going to be.

As amazing a show as MASH was/is, I feel like it kinda killed it for all future humor-based TV shows about war. It's a shame, really - there was a great tradition of stuff like McHale's Navy, F-Troop, Gomer Pyle, Hogan's Heroes, etc. I'm hard pressed to think of any post-MASH shows that had any success showing the lighter side of war (and no, After MASH and Major Dad don't count).
On a related note, I think there's a good argument to be made that sitcoms largely hit their creative peak in the period 1970-1990 or so. That's not to say that there hasn't been some good stuff since or that there wasn't good stuff beforehand, but the overall quality of the first twenty and most recent twenty years of TV sitcoms just really falls flat by comparison.

Man, I love Hogan's Heroes. It seems current and recent Sit-coms are largely drama based, with serious undertones. Kinda funny how traumatic the events those shows are based on, and how they were made to be light hearted in spirit. Complete inverse to today's war-themed shows. 24, Homeland, The Unit (since been cancelled). Everything is so serious.dsheinem wrote:As amazing a show as MASH was/is, I feel like it kinda killed it for all future humor-based TV shows about war. However, even though I don't remember the content very well of the Major Show, I used to love driving around with my family at Quantico when we lived there three separate times. The Major Dad building is at Quantico, and I'd be sure to point it out to everyone.
