Boss Battle You Could Never Beat

Post by BurningDoom »

Did you have any boss battles that were too hard, that you just walked away from and watched the ending on YouTube after a 100 tries?

Never could beat the final boss in Metroid: Prime on Gamecube. So freaking hard. You have to be absolutely perfect or you're toast.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I did manage to actually beat it, once. But I swear it was sheer luck, so it doesn't really count. It's just so hard after making it through the path to the final palace with all those mini-areas, then the even harder final palace itself, then there's the boss battle with The Phoenix, and immeadiatly following is the battle with Shadow Link. Soooo freaking hard!

In Battle of Olympus for NES, I couldn't even make it to the final boss. I could always get to the evil palace where he resides, then the maze and the crazy powerful henchmen would kick the crap out of me. It's a shame, too, because I love that game.

This is a bit embarrassing, but it took me ages to beat the first boss in Metroid Prime. So long in fact that I started about 5 new games before finally getting the hang of the controls and moving past the first couple of save points.

I've not encountered any bosses I couldn't beat yet, but Jacquio in Ninja Gaiden and the Vortex Queen in Ecco the Dolphin sure came close.

Final boss of Bangaio, Dreamcast version

Final boss of Sub-Terrania on the Sega Genesis

There are likely others, but those are the two that always jump to mind. I think my brain likes to block out my failures  Generally speaking though, I can beat most games I play including all the boss fights. Those two gave me trouble though and I got sick of restarting the whole stage every time I died to them, so I gave up.

I also always have trouble with Bald Bull and Super Macho Man in every single Punch Out game. I CAN beat them, but it's like 50/50 between me winning and losing to them. Actually, I never got past Super Macho Man in Punch Out for the Wii now that I think about it. Got pissed off and gave up

One of the most hellish boss fights I've ever had was the final boss in Shinobi (PS2 version) on the hardest difficulty setting, and going for a perfect "tate" finish to get the highest rank for the stage. It was the last challenge left for me in order to say that I truly "completed" that game.

The final boss of Metal Slug Advance. I feel like I got close, but could never really pull it off. Eventually I just got overwhelmed by near-unavoidable lasers. Oh, and this is one of the Metal Slug games without arcade-style credits, so when you die you have to restart the battle.

I actually was not ever able to beat the final boss of tloz: Majora's Mask, which was likely due to the fact that I was never able to get the fierce diety mask. The slowdown in the gamecube version made it even more challenging from what I remember. I haven't played it in awhile though.

The Art of Fighting - the last boss has all your special moves, but they're much faster, much stronger, and have a much larger range. HE'S TOUGH.
Someday, I'm going to beat all three of those games. But it's going to take serious training. I've heard the second one is even less fair than the first and that's... something.

Only due to lack of caring. Not even sure if there is a boss in Sword of Sodan as I can't get past the first level.

I do however have a friend that I can't beat in NBA JAM. I still have my original cart, and my record since I bought it (at release) is something like 145-0. That was until a Daniel Cummings stepped into my game room. Bastard beat me four times in a row when we first played. So for now, he's the boss I can't beat.

Same here. Metal Slug Advance is harder than any other entry because you can't rely on auto-continues.
