lol i had the same thought, but if you are in a dark room, or just woke up the brightness will hurt. I learned that back in the bbs days... black background does not help in ANSI mode with bright white writing lol. (its why the old warez bbs' all had really dark writing, it wasn't to be cool, it was for the zombies)

No kidding -- I plan on offering a skin more like the old one for those that like it.

Hate it.

Black background with white text was much easier on the eyes.

PLEASE Racketboy, please add a skin feature so I can have a nice contrast theme. It really hurts my eyes looking at this forum now :(

Give me another day or so and we'll have the old theme available for you to use.

I like the new design. It does not bother my eyes. The only thing I miss from the old design was the blue.
I think the blue accents helped tie the forums to the site better, and it may help those who complain about their eyes hurting... unless they are not open to change - then there is nothing that can be done.

I'll try to polish out this new design to make it a bit more streamlined and match the rest of the site better.

And like I said, I'll have the old design available as well that people can select as their default assuming they are logged in.

Since version 3 of the forum software re-did a number of things with the templates, I can't just bring the old one back just like that. Ron (cavemonkey50), my programmer, will have to wrap the phpbb3 version of the theme that the old design was based on with the racketboy-specific stuff instead of the parts we didn't use.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes, to me it does since I have 2 sites that I recently updated from phpbb2 to phpbb3... there were not as many themes to play with and modify since converting old themes to new ones is next to impossible.
I do remember seeing the atomic... or what ever theme you used to have modified available for phpbb3 - unfortunately your programmer would have to spend time to modify that one like he did the other one.

I think that if you pay him to modify themes, or for his time, just to make people happy... people should reconsider their complaints.

Yes, I have to pay him to do it, but that's the way things go.

Actually, it was based on the AcidTech theme
