When did you start playing games?
I started to play videogames when I was 3. I would always play my cousins gameboy advance. Even though the only games I could play were Disney Princesses and some kind of stupid chess game, I would always want to play. Eventually my parents got me and my sister gameboy advance SP's and later a gamecube that we shared. What are your stories of how you started to play videogames?
Re: When did you start playing games?
I was young enough to not remember a time before playing Super Mario Bros.

Started when I was 3. Late '96-'97. My dad actually was a pretty heavy gamer up until about 2001ish.
Older. Not wiser.

Most distinct thing I remember was when I was probably around 6 or so (so around 1986), playing Frogger and Defender on the Apple IIe my family had. I vaguely recall a cassette based computer before that, C64 probably, but I'm not sure I actually played games on it.

While not quite the same, here are some related threads:

My first memories of gaming was when I was four. I remember I played Pole Position on the Atari (which I'm certain was the 2600), and at our neighbor's next door I first played The Legend of Zelda and Duck Hunt (probably Mario too, but I just don't remember it) on their NES.

When I was expelled from the womb, the nurse swaddled me -- but not before I reached over to the computer to rest my fingers on W,S,A,D.
True story, hand of god.

Re: When did you start playing games?
Probably 4. I have vague memories of playing Atari, Apple II, Amiga, and arcade games. Hate to say it, but I believe the first game I ever played was E.T. on Atari 2600.
Got an NES when I was around 6. I had played Vs. Super Mario Bros. and wanted to experience the console version.

I believe you. Evolution has come to the point where toddlers are playing video game chess.
I have no recollection of it, but when I was three I wouldn't consider holding a controller and fumbling around in big boy pants "playing a video game".
I was probably five or six when I can say I actually played games knowing what the hell I was doing. But hats off to you guys who could play video games before you could control your bladder.
