It's funny, because sexual assault is the same thing as financial disadvantage.

You mean the illusion that our democracy functions properly. Right?...
Representative democracy is currently the best form of governance on the planet. If it doesn't work, then we have no one to blame but ourselves...
The US is not a Democracy (Al Gore would have been president  ). Technically we are a representative republic or constitutional republic. We have democratic staples to be sure, but our founders were smart enough to understand that a true democracy would destroy itself (eventually) because it does a terrible job of upholding individual rights. You won't find the word democracy in the US Constitution or any of the 50 states constitutions either. There's a reason for that.

Pro-obama supporters posting political crap are all black

As much as I like following current events, politics, and elections (bring on the mid-term debates and ads!), I really hate the week before the election becasue so many people who ignore political stuff/current events about 99% of the time and are usually clueless and ignorant about anything important in the world all of the sudden think that they have a good handle on who to vote for and why, consider themselves experts on many issues, and feel like their right to vote equates to the right to have their view respected.

No. Why would you think so?

Sigh, not this whole thing again. Republic is any non-monarchy form of government. We're a representative democracy. The whole "Al Gore would be president" thing is because you don't realize you're not voting on the president. You're voting on electors who have pledged to vote a particular way. Go find Luke's post that explains it.
