Plan on going and seeing Wreck-it Ralph this upcoming weekend hopefully.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Can't believe I'm typing this, but BULLET TO THE HEAD reads as a very disappointing Sly-flick.

But its Walter Hill directing it that makes it interesting.Luke wrote:Can't believe I'm typing this, but BULLET TO THE HEAD reads as a very disappointing Sly-flick.

Terminator: Salvation. This was my 2nd viewing of it. I don't understand all the hate it gets. It was a solid action movie, IMO. It doesn't have the low-budget charm of the 1st movie, and it's not as spectacular as the 2nd film (hell, I can't think of ANY action movie better than T2); however it made a great post-apocalyptic tale set in the Terminator Universe. And it gave me what I've wanted from a Terminator film ever since seeing the few future scenes in the first 2 movies, a Terminator film set in the future. Great special effects, and cool robots to boot. And it was certainly better than T3.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
A lot of the negatives came from the screenings of the first draft of the film, which was pretty awful. The cgi was unfinished, the cuts were jagged, and the pace was boring-er. Plus the name of the film was Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which is silly.BurningDoom wrote: Terminator: Salvation.
After several edits, some people were still left disappointed. When you base a movie on tone, it will be hit or miss. Kind of how like PAYBACK starring Mel Gibson is almost entirely filtered in blue, SALVATION is almost entirely filtered in brown. That drives some people nuts.
SALVATION also tried to revert back to the original Terminator, which didn't work so well. T3 played off of T2, and although T3 was something awful, it kept with the script (and has some hilarious out takes). Critics will say SALVATION tried too hard. And keep in mind that 2009 had some stellar movies where Salvation is basically thought as a ho-hum movie you'll see on USA on a Saturday afternoon.
In short, with the Terminator franchise people don't expect "it was alright". People expect to leave the theater telling all of there friends to go see it.

Is it going to turn out that every movie Luke doesn't like was actually a cheap knockoff with a slightly different title?Hobie-wan wrote:You watched the wrong movie sir. I have to agree. It was boring for me and my Golden God didn't have enough screen time. I actually stopped watching it. I've heard better things about Expendables 2 though.
edit: i just noticed it was EXPANDables that I quoted but still - I'll stand by my statement about Expendables.
