VH1 still plays music videos. It's labeled under "Jumpstart". Something to do with jumpstarting your day, I suppose. It's on during the week and usually starts early and ends around 10ish in the morning. They also have the the Top 20 Countdown on Saturday mornings. And they do still have the occasional Behind the Music special, though they seem to be released sporadically. I do agree, though. It's not nearly the same level of what they used to do.
As for MTV.... Well, I don't even want to think about MTV.
I still watch syfy for the monster movies. The worse the better for me, I just really dig that Roger Coreman style stuff, but I can see why its such a hated channel now. I can't really defend it in any substantial way.
MTV, Syfy, Cartoon Network, and many other networks have all made the same mistake.
They forgot what they were about. MTV didn't want to just be about music, so it ended up being about nothing. Same with Syfy. Why the hell did they ever have wrestling on? Unless those guys were in monster suits, it had no place. Cartoon Network complains about how it wants to have more live action stuff.
Stick to your niche. Its what your good at, its why people watch your channel.
If i wanted to see watered-down piss, i could tune in to one of any other 100s of channels that just want to be everything.
I know this is the internet and it's cool to hate on everything, but I have fond memories of X-Play and am sad to see it go. It was the first place I heard about some of my favorite games like Katamari Damacy and Ico.
I enjoyed Attack of the Show at times too. It was fine for what it was. I'm not sure what the folks who hated it so much ever expected from it.

This. My fondest memories of the show revolve around their old Gamecube, GBA, PS2, Dreamcast, and Xbox reviews. I only had the GBA at the time, but I still loved watching the reviews for all of the consoles I didn't have.

same here, plus I always liked there E3 Coverage, another channel loosing its niche like Cartoon Network with Toonami, at least Adult swim brought Toonami back, sad. Guess G4 will have to change its description, because it is defiantly not tech based or different anymore. Like Sci-fi with Stargate. I swear channels have gone down hill after the mid 2000's

Because you have to wait an entire season to watch current episodes. You can't watch the newest episodes of stuff online. And YouTube and torrents in particular usually have some crappy video quality on some of that stuff.
I love my cable and DVR. I always have something on my box waiting for me to watch.

I with FDC here, I loved both shows. AOTS wasn't all that great, but I loved it for what it was. I also loved CHEAT! when it was still on. That show was great.
Someone mentioned that they should just rebrand G4 "Spike 2"... am I bad for saying I do watch Spike often enough to call myself a fan? At least they admit they're testosterone and sex, unlike most TV.
The channel went downhill since TechTV first merged with G4. After Kevin Rose left attack of the show it, it got worse, once adam sessler left x-play, the channel was dead.
