How come they need you to turn up the heat? Is it because they have no radiators in their apt? Seems like a design flaw that the apt is not on a separate zone.

^People who don't stand up for themselves are willing to fall for anyone. Or something like that.

Smile: Last night was bonkers. Over 200 trick or treaters. That neighborhood in E.T looks like a ghost town compared to what I saw last night. Ran out of candy before 8pm, and for two hours I tried to sit down and eat, but it didn't happen. Had friends over later and watched Beetlejuice again.

The best was carving pumpkins outside with my wife while listening to Vincent Price records. It was one of those instances where you take a deep breath and realize how good it is to be on the green side of the grass.

Frown: Overslept.

My neighborhood was a ghost town. Yeah, if I were a kid, I would skip my neighborhood because houses are too spread apart. I had about 20 kids and gave each of them 6-7 pieces of candy. I still had a lot of stuff left over that I brought to the office kitchen.

So what did you do when you ran out? Turn off the lights so people wouldn't come? I'm thinking of buying less candy next year and having quarters on hand if I run out.

Trick or treating was much bigger last night in my town than it's ever been. For the first time, the town community club put together a big Halloween event, complete with "trunk or treating" in an attempt to attract more people. It worked. We ran out of candy at about 6:30 or 7:00, and most years we have 1/3 of the bowl leftover at the end of the night.

We had out usual number of trick-or-treaters this year, but some who were clearly unable to read social cues...two groups of trick-or-treaters (all accompanied by adults, mind you) came to our door after we had turned off our front lights. We were trying to put our children to bed, and it was a little annoying to say the least.

Also, I use the term "trick-or-treater" generously...the second group consisted of three adults and one very young child (less than two years old)...all of whom asked for candy. (I live in the city, not far from some poorer neighborhoods; so, this is not unprecedented.) We very curtly told them that we were out.

You are missing out. I was blaring Vincent Price and Spooky Sounds records while scaring more adults than children. It's fairly simple, after the doorbell rings you slowly open the door without being seen, and wait. Then jump out from behind the door. I had a few "runaways" this year.

Plus you'll miss out on kids who dress up with some awesome costumes. "Fat Elvis" was the best this year.
