Dat feel when you want to buy something but know it's a bad idea. That's what I'm feeling with a TurboGrafx right now.

Unless you buy a flash cart with it...RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Dat feel when you want to buy something but know it's a bad idea. That's what I'm feeling with a TurboGrafx right now.
But maybe that makes it an even worse idea...

Everyone knows you can toss PC Quake in a player and listen to the soundtrack, but Carmageddon has a few nice instrumental versions of some Fear Factory tunes.noiseredux wrote:Does anyone else love that you can throw Sega CD games in a CD player?

My cat just tried jumping up on one of my shelving units and knocked over an entire row of PS1 RPGs, of course most of them being in multi-disk cases, smashing pretty much all of them. DAMNATION!!! The disks are all fine at least... but yeah it sucks.

My roommate is pretty obsessed with FFX. Dude beat like the entire thing last weekend and I kept watching some bits here and there... I haven't played the game since it came out back in 2001-2002 or whatever, I had issues with it but overall it was fun and the last good Square SOFT game. Think I'm going to replay it.
I'm a little afraid of enjoying it a lot this time around, since I bash it so much. I can just sense some apologies inbound.
I know it won't be a favorite, but probably up there with FFVIII-IX, but which I enjoyed but aren't totally perfect. FFX's cast and story wasn't my favorite, but the gameplay/polish/music was off the chain.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Weird things I'm noticing about my taste in games and how I play them...
I'd much rather play retro console games than retro PC games, despite being an avid "modern" PC gamer. This is regardless of the fact that many retro games, just like modern ones are better on PC.
My biggest turn off with retro games seems to be saving. I find myself looking up games to see if they have a level select before I buy them...
...by extension, it takes a very particular experience* to get me to play games for more than 20-30 minutes at a time. Also tends to be the reason why I'm attracted to arcade games. Intense 20-30 minute sessions vs. relaxed long 2 hour ones.
Even though I nearly cancelled my pre-order of the WiiU, I've switched viewpoints yet again and am really looking forward to it's release. Perhaps due to the ZombiU footage of late that I've been watching.
My dislike of having a collection that takes up lots of space, and my dislike of owning nothing but digital stuff, leaves me in a bit of a weird place.
I've begun consciously avoiding Steam where possible. They need some competition.
Why aren't there "traditional" shaped controllers (think Saturn Model 2) with analog sticks? I prefer the feeling of traditional pads over the modern handlebar design. At the same time though, the Wii classic controller wasn't very comfy, but I don't think it's indicative that they all would be...
XCOM is so fun. Very easy to lose time in that game.*
Those are my random gaming thoughts as of late.

I bought Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror for PS2 NIB on clearance at Hastings for $5 today. Even though it was sealed, it was marked as used so they could charge a lower price. What's funny is that on my reciept, it said
Yeah, no. I got a $5 game for $5. No one but a Craigslist seller could possibly think a PS2 port of a 2006 PSP game is worth $40 in 2012.PS2 SYPHON FILTER 4.98
You saved $35.01 at Hastings

999 is a true gem for DS owners; I'm glad I decided to revisit it. My first ending left me feeling a bit...shocked and dissatisfied?? Memorable characters, great writing (I actually lol'd at a conversation between Junpei and June). Oh yeah, the soundtrack kills too. One more playthrough to go and it's on to Zero Escape.

Some photoshopper needs to shop a certain Zelda II screen shot with "I am 404".
