Makes brain hurt.
There's a rumor going around that nobody's buying video games anymore. The truth is they're just not buying the new ones as much these days.
$848 million
Yes that's down from last year, but it is still buckets of money compared to the game market 30 years ago even when you account for inflation and increased development costs.
we've come up with 10 games still raking in the cash years after their initial release. Time will tell if old copies of "Guitar Hero" or "Just Dance" will do the same:
Yes, with their millions of copies produced and so many people taking better care of the games these days.
Anyone who buys a copy of this game will have no problem tracking down a homebrew version of Vectrex to play it on.
Really? I can just pop online and buy a homebrew system with vector screen to plug my cartridge into? No numb nuts, the game software was released into public domain so you can download the roms and fire up an emulator and be free and clear.

Yeah I didn't even want go get started on some of the silliness in that article. The writer is clearly pretty clueless.

I didn't bother commenting on this thread at first just because of how stupid the article is. I have nothing to say about it. It's incredibly stupid.

This is what happens when people who don't know games talk about games. Infuriating no?

Everyone likes to think their junk they have stored in the basement is worth something. Hopefully this gets some hoarders to sell their games and put them back into the secondary market though.

Indeed, agree with everyone so far.

Also:
Gamers pay more now for hard-to-find titles, such as "War of the Gems" or "X-Men: Children of the Atom," than they did when the games were released.
Erm, I bought that last year off Ebay for under £10 (around $14 or 15) and I even at that I kicked myself when I saw it for £3 in my local games shop a month later.

What's weird is that the author is seemingly just pulling shit from his/her ass (basically making up random BS on, well, everything) especially with the examples people posted above.

Hilarious on his assertion of the pricing on War of the Gems" or "X-Men: Children of the Atom which would have cost somewhere in the range of 65 to 130 bucks new.
